Hi,i have notebook acer aspire 5738zg. i have problem to opein cd drive when ever i try to open its taking tomuch time and after that i cant open it what i have to do

Is this happening on all CDs or DVDs? if it is, the issue that you are encountering could be a software or Hardware issue. Follow the steps below to find out.
1)If its a sofware issue, it could be with the Upper or Lower filters settings for the cd/dvd rom on the registry that is causing you the problem. You could check it by opening Registry Editor. (click on start>type "regedit" on the searchbox and open it. You should be seeing something like the picture below :

2)go to this entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} That is the key entry for your CD/DVD rom.. Once you are on that key, look at the right panel, and search for Upper Filters or Lower Filters. If you see those entries, delete them. Be careful not to delete some entries on the registry aside from those two.
3)after deleting them, restart the computer.
4)Once you get back into Windows, try to load any cd or dvd and check if it will now be able to read them.
5)if it still does not work, try to go to your computer manufacturer's website and download the latest firmware for your CD/DVD drive.
6)If all else fails, try replacing the CD/DVD drive on your computer.

Hello.

If the drive does not open on its owm, you should be able to open it manually. The drive will have a smal hole in the fronto of it. If you take a straightned paper clip and insert into the hole the drive should open.

You will need to download the correct VGA driver from Acer website and install it.
Please click the link below to download the driver needed.

You will need to select the Product Family: Notebook, then Product Line: Aspire and Product Model: Aspire 5738zG

Then it will show all available drivers for your notebook. First select the correct Operating System: (example: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition) and locate the correct VGA driver for your computer and click on it to download it. Make sure to remember where you will save it since you will need to browse the driver file after download is completed.

After downloading the driver, locate it and just install it by double-clicking the file.

Take a Norwegian paper-clip, and straighten one end.
Insert that end into the small hole in the faceplate of the CD-drive,
and push until you feel resistance.
Then, push another 1/4 inch (6 mm) to "unlock" the drawer.
Then, push the open/close button, and the motors should push the tray completely open.

Then, insert the original Acer "System Restore" CD, close the tray, and restart your computer. Tell it to boot from the CD.
When it does, it will start to reinstall Windows.

download the driver from the acer site. download the Webcam_Suyin

Take a damp q-tip and clean the laser of the dvd drive. Then after this try a few different dvd and normal cd's and see if the drive reads them at this point. If it reads them then problem solved. If not then you'll need a new dvd drive.

Go the next step. Copy the software fron the USB drive onto the Acer Aspire One Netbook harddrive and try installing it from there.

Hi try rebooting the laptop or if that doesn't work you may have to search of another drivier for the E: drive.
