I have intel 845 glly mother board on which already a 40 GB segate baracuda harddisk is installed. Now I have bought a 160 GB segate baracuda harddisk and attached to it, formatted. But machine shows 127 GB in place of 160 GB. Whether it is hard disk fault or machine fault?

The size of the hard disk depends upon what type of programs you are running and the amount of data you need to store.
Programs that create large amount of data are audio and video files.
The tpye of hard drive depends on what type of disk controller you have, it could be IDE or SATA disk controller, you need to check your computer's hard disk controller.
The average hard disk capacity is 160 Gb to 180 Gb and goes up to 1 Tb, but the largest capacity drive your cmputer can support will depend upon the BIOS.
I have intel GLLY board, i am having sound problem in it. My sound is install but it is not working. Even i re-install the windows lot of time and instal the sound, but the problem persist, i heard from someone that there were some sound problem in this series of boards and you have to copy an additional file for sound. So please if anyone know about this problem than please help me...
Try going to device manager & look for any yellow exclamation marks or red x's especially on any sound device. If you have errors open up the devices properties and at the bottom under device status check to see if your device is working properly or not. Error messeges are in detail. If no problem there try adding on an external sound device to by pass the systems internal.
this hard drive size will work with your motherboard but the problem is the size will be detected only up to 130 GB or less, so if you will be using that size of hard drive you will just waste it.. so better use a 120 GB of hard drive or upgrade your motherboard so you can use a 250 GB.....
Hello all. I have the same issue. My MB is 845G [P4 2.4 Ghz] and SATA harddisk I need to install is Seagate 250 GB Baracuda with 3.0Gb/s interface, I belive which makes this HD as SATA II. So for this motherboard should I prefer PCI cards which support SATA II over the supports SATA I [these are cheaper].
No board will show display without memory. Your motherboard must run memory type;
Two DIMM sockets supporting 3.3 V (only) 168-pin 133 MHz Single Data Rate (SDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts. Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only. Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB. Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only.
If your memory is within Intel's memory specifications & you are not getting display on your monitor. It is possible that the integerated on board graphics (Shown on page 13 in your user manual), may be defective. You can add a PCI video card to the PC. The Intel D845GLLY will auto detect the PCI video card. No need to enter the bios & make changes. Please keep this in mind. The integrated video card is PCI, if it has failed, there is a good chance it will not see the PCI add in video card. If you can find a used (Working) PCI video card to test in the PC.
