I wish to use closed captioning but I can't find the function on my Panasonic TH-42PWD6 monitor. Does it have a closed captioning function, and if so how can I turn it on and off? Thanks.

Researching this monitor, it appears to be a professional monitor with plug-in modules for different inputs. It does not appear to support closed captioning natively.

However, some Set Top Boxes (STBs) do closed captioning themselves. For example, most newer DirecTV STBs have captioning capabilities on the box rather than using the montior's closed captioning feature. Perhaps your source material can open caption for you.

Black box please wait corner of screen

Check whether closed caption function is ON or not. If it is PN, make it OFF. Refer the user manual to your TV for details. If you do not have its user manual with you now, click here to download it.

The picture is visible but there is a black small screen just covering the picture

Hello; If there is a black box covering part of the picture, it is likely a " TEXT " box that is used with " closed captioning " Read your owner's manual to see how to TURN OFF all closed captioning functions. Download the manual if you don't have one. John

I have a Panasonic Plasma, believe model TH-42PWD6 and a separate Denon tuner. For a while the colours have been splitting into mostly green and purple. If I flick between DVD and TV it eventually resets.

I had a similar problem with the blue tint going away. I solved it by replacing the terminal board with a new component board I picked up on eBay. You can also use the PC input with a D-sub connector using a component cable adapter.

Closed Captioned

Assuming whatever your TV receiving from has close caption. (Not all TV channel has close caption) Solution 1) Get a new universal remote that support your model and has close caption button. Once you program in the code for your TV model and it works then all button should also programmed including th close caption button. Solution 2) Search online for the owner manual and read see how to turn it on using buttons on TV (if possible). Solution 3) Get new TV with close caption. (If you have an old old TV with bad and huge pixels then this solution is the best. Your eyes will thank you.)
