My SD800IS was working fine while in the very hot/humid environment of Yap. I took it out of my air conditioned room and went to take a picture almost immediately. The view finder, the LCD image and the lens were all fogged. The camera worked but took foggy images. Eventually the fog cleared and my photos were fine but most of the controls no longer work. I can change the selector knob that determines if the camera is on auto, manual, video or display modes but it won't zoom and the program and menu modes no longer work. When the camera is turned on it shows a digital time display until the shutter button is pressed. Then it shows the subject and is ready to take a picture. Have I given you enough info to determine what is damaged?

The foggy images and lens was due to condensation caused by the camera's surfaces being cold in a humid/moist environment. Usually this happens and goes away without issue. If you believe issues are continuing, consider placing the camera completely in a bowl of uncooked rice. The rice should help eliminate the moisture in the camera.
Hope this helps.

Portable Air Conditioning great portable air cooling

Portable air conditioning offers you the convenience of mobility. All you have to do is roll the portable air conditioner to the room in which it's needed. Install an exhaust hose out a window or other opening (everything you need is provided) and turn it on. The installation process for these units is very simple. These portable air conditioning units are built small enough to be very mobile and are supplied with wheels for easy movement. A portable air conditioner will also work very well in apartment situations where you will often find a window unit is unacceptable.

Portable air conditioners are very unique in that they are portable and can be easily moved to different locations in your home or business. They can be a highly effective way to either help out an existing HVAC system in one room or cool a single room entirely. They are also one of the best ways to cool a room or area without having to install a window mounted unit.

These air conditioners use a compressor and Freon to cool just like normal air conditioning. They are very effective in cooling rooms and to keep the humidity low. Like normal air conditioners portable units extract hot air that must be vented. That is why they need to have the exhaust hose to the outside. These units can cool air as well as air conditioning done with window air conditioners. However they do not require installation like conventional window air conditioners this makes them very convenient for seniors or physically challenged people. Most portable air conditioners are supplied with a window kit. This kit contains exhaust hoses that will work in any window: double-hung, casement, awning or slider. Because they vent through an opening like a window they require no permanent mounting like window air conditioning.

Portable air conditioners are a very good cooling option for those who can't use the more conventional air conditioning methods. Remember though that this type of unit is not as efficient as most window units or conventional air. So while they may make your environment cooler, it won’t turn your tent into a room at the local hotel.

So as you can see these air conditioning units have some great advantages over other types of air conditioning. They are a great alternative for unique applications where central air or conventional window units are either unfeasible or too expensive. During special events, portable air conditioning can also be a great way to keep guests or equipment cool and comfortable. Always be aware though that because portable air conditioning will remove moisture from the air, they will also need to be drained occasionally similar to a dehumidifier.

Does your application warrant a permanent air conditioner of some form or should you just use a portable one? There are some interesting things to consider when making that choice. Weigh out all of the different options and make that decision based on what will best suit your needs.

I am finding that the plasma cool ACW600C is leaking a lot of water

air conditions work by removing the humidity from the room air
very humid air will cause a lot of condensation in the evaporator section especially if you have it set below 25 c
keep all doors and windows closed to prevent fresh air bringing in more humid air as that makes it hard for the ac to work efficiently

Only recently my portable heller air conditioner is oosing out buckets of water each night. does it mean it finished and needs replacement,

Portable air conditioners cool the air, and in so doing, dehumidify the air. The "buckets" of water are coming from the humid air in your environment, so you need to do things that will reduce humidity, of be prepared to empty the condensate receptacle fairly often.

Using a small room, closing doors and windows to the room you want cooled, avoiding cooking or heating water, reducing the frequency of people walking into/out of the room and limiting the number of people in the room will all help in reducing, and keeping low, the ambient humidity.

Took ipad to the beach and it was hot out now it wont turn on

I can almost be sure yur hotel room is cold with air conditioning. Even when the iPad is on its case, condensation can create havoc with the electronics.

But don't dismay, you have a great chance nothing serious happened.

There are two ways you can "dry" your tablet, either by putting it in front of the A/C air stream (it's dry cold air), then try to turn it on on INSIDE your room, or you can put it in the sun INSIDE your room, so water evaporates and steam gets "sucked" by the dry A/C air, then try to turn it on.

Don't try to recharge it while it's still humid.

The same applies to cameras or cell phones because of the air humidity condensation.

Hope it helps

Travelling in Nicaragua in a very humid climate the display is not working, depending on the light circumstances there still is very limited image visible.

These camera's aren't designed for humid conditions and can be damaged. Some models are very fussy and won't even turn on if they detect humidity inside the case.

Try drying it out in a low humidity environment such as an air conditioned car or a hotel room and also have a fan blowing on it for a few hours. if not available then try sunlight in a breezy area on a dry day, but don't wait too long to dry it out.
Also don't heat it at all.
A small vacuum chamber such as used in some industries can dry it out very fast but can be hard to arrange.

Get a waterproof camera such as a Canon D10 or a waterproof case for yours for these extreme conditions.

Is it possible in aircon to used it with no compressor??

Nothing in air conditioning is new. It has been done for many years.

There are three types of "compressorless" refrigeration that I can think of.

1. ) swamp coolers or evaporative coolers - these work on the process of adiabatic saturation in low humidity environments. Evaporating water removes energy from the air, makes it cooler and more humid. This is a win-win when the air is very dry, but the process doesn't work well in humid environments, were water evaporates less readily.

2.) Peltier junction solid state coolers. These are essentially a thermocouple driven in reverse. Conduction between the hot and cold plates is hard to control and at low voltages these devices need a lot of current. These units are not as efficient as mechanical refrigeration.

3.) Absorption refrigeration cycle. In these systems a solution of ammonia in water (or water in a lithium bromide brine) is used. Heating the water (or brine) drives out the ammonia (or water vapor) and takes the place of the compressor in the cycle. This cycle is useful if you have a source of waste heat. You essentially recover the energy in the waste heat to run a refrigeration unit. A few demo units have used solar energy as the heat source, but I don't think this is common

Make about 5 to 10 prints; then, leave the machine in the office environment (normal temperature/humidity conditions)

* This symptom is noticeable in a low temperature/ humidity environment, and is absent under normal environmental conditions.

* This symptom occurs in keeping with the primary charging roller rotation (38 mm).

Dehumidifier automatic on and off function not working

Unless you live in a dry environment or place the unit in a hermetically sealed room, it probably will not turn off. As the air dries within the room, more moisture comes in with the air. As long as the air outside of the room is more humid than the room this will be true.

Moisture? Blurry lens or moisture inside

I haven't tried this myself, but I have heard of folks putting their camera in sunshine, and just let it set , and others have used a hair dryer for short durations. Like I said I haven't tried these, and usually moisture is a camera killer.
