Replaced ic chips and still have red convergence problems

I replaced the ic chips today and I am still having the red convergence problem. I also replaced one of the capacitors that was bulged. What should be the next thing that i try? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Travis

There are red, blue and green lines going all the way across

it sounds like a convergence problem; in the customer menu there is an option to adjust it with the Sony remote---if either blue or red will not adjust in some direction---you have a bad IC---this set uses two STK-392-560 IC chips for convergence---both would need to be replaced and the set adjusted again. If this has been helpful give me a vote here---if you need more direct assistance--------- [email protected]

The convergence IC chips are available on Ebay from Surburban Electronics for less then 14 dollars for the pair.(plus shipping)

Replaced ic's but green is still seperated from the blue and red

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Hey guys I have a pretty interesting one for you. I researched all the convergence issues a few months ago, and new I needed to buy new IC's. I bought the C5AA00000203's from Partstore.com, which were...

Bad IC is my guess...

On anotehr note convergence is a very common failure on Projection TV sets.

Sony KP-53S75 Red convergence problem

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Red convergence

It could be the other IC as well as you are suppose to replace both at once! You see these ICs have three amps in each on X 2 =6 2 for red, 2 for green, and 2 for blue. There also might be small resistors near the IC's that are open. These are called fusable resistors. They are of a low value like around 1 to 3 ohms most of them.
