There are white spots on TV . Heard it can be the dmd chip. Can DMD Chips be ordered. Or can it be any other problem? Can it be repaired at home?

There is a very easy way to decide if it is your Digital board or your light engine. When you turn off your TV and the logo come up, are the spots still there? If they are then your light engine is bad and needs to be replaced. If they go away, then your digital board needs to be replaced. And yes you can get that board from just about anywhere.

Is there any possible way to repair a DMD chip with tiny white dots?

Anything is usually fixable. What you have to determine with Dell's assistance is if it is cost effective to do so.

White spots

It may be the DMD chip. Do you get the spots on the display even when there is no source connected? Are the spots multiplying? If so, then it is the DMD chip. If it is under warranty, then ship it back. Also, if the projector is less than 5 years old, you could get the chip replaced for free. Some DMD chips have a 5 year warranty that are still good even after the projector's warranty.

Bright white spots on mitsubishi wd-73833 I just replaced the lamp and now these bright white spots have started to appear!

This unit uses a DLP (digital light processor) chip and if this starts to fail then you will get spots appearing on the screen. The DLP chip will need to be replaced.

My optoma is projecting white spots onto the screen. They seem to just appear. Some have began by 'sparkling' for a while and then they stay white perminantly.

if it is a DLP projector then the DMD on the engine is likely bad or the main board is bad. The white things are pixels.

Chip is user replaceable (try or ebay) for about $150-200. Sammy was (last year) repairing the DLP White Spot problem for free. You MUST talk to ECR (executive customer service) to even think about getting that consideration--forget the standard CS people. Don't know if they are still covering this out of warranty in 2010.</span>
