When trying to rescale a layer in gimp a circle with a bar across it comes up next to the pointer and a message reading 'no path to transform' I have tried several times on different layers and it still doesn't work. This also happens with other tools. It is definitely a layer and not a floating selection. How can i rescale a layer? Many Thanks

How to import a word text into gimp ?

It is impossible to import a word document file into GIMP, but it is possible to COPY the text in the document and PASTE it onto a text layer in GIMP. This, unfortunately, destroys the formatting (for instant, tabbed spaces are removed for paragraph beginnings.)

Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any other questions regarding text layers in GIMP.

Need help with missing libgimpui-2.0-0.dll file

The problem is you didn't completely uninstall Gimp before you installed it again so the Gimp install file got confused when it found some residual files or registry keys from a previous install and thus it skipped installing some files (libgimpui-2.0-0.dll was one of them for sure) You need to completely uninstall Gimp before you can install it again properly. Get a copy of Revo uninstaller from the link below and use it to uninstall Gimp for you. You should be good to go after that.

Can I rotoscope using GIMP? Mark, MN

ctrl+x to cut your selection or ctrl+c to copy it then paste it as a floating selection (ctrl+v) you can then use the arrow keys to move the layer one pixle at a time. you can then make it a new layer or merg it with the original frame.

Just a note: whenever I am rotoscoping with the gimp I use the path tool A LOT. it gives you more control over what you are selecting. and if you keep your paths tab open you can easly edit the same path over and over again moving it just slightly each time. (yes all the control points are still there.)

In addition to the eyes you also need to click the chain link next to the eyes. This locks them in place.

How do i make an image smaller

The Scale Tool is used to scale layers, selections or paths (the Object).
When you click on image with the tool the Scaling Information dialog box is opened, allowing to change separately Width and Height. At the same time a Preview (possibly with a grid or an outline) is superimposed on the object and handles appear on corners and borders that you can click and drag to change dimensions. A small circle appears at center of the Preview allowing to move this preview.

Good luck.
