When the ignition is turned off and turned on again the clock keeps reseting to 00.00

  • chris_maverl May 05, 2011

Thanks, I'm certain the 12V is connected. I metered it and its fine, I have it connected to the yellow cable. The radio stations aren't resetting but maybe those are stored in flash.

I have a new problem though. At the moment when I turn the ignition the cd drive whirrs up, the lights on the radio come on and then go off and the radio won't turn on. I'll have to check fuses later.

One of the wires from the firewall is just 5V whether the ignition is on or off, I assume this isn't needed and is for an advanced feature like remote control power, or powered aerial.

Do I just need 3 lines to power the radio, constant 12V, ignition toggled 12V and ground?
Here is the link to the install guide

    Appreciate your help greatly.

Correction, my last post should have read I have the constant 12V connected to the red cable of the radio harness and the ignition toggled 12V to the yellow cable of the radio harness

Sounds like you don't have the 12v constant hooked up. There is two 12v sources, one is ignition, and the other is constant. All it's for is keeping the settings. The ignition wire from radio is for turning radio on when car is on or in acc setting. Pull radio make sure everything is wired properly. U can't wiring information on the web using radio brand and model number.

may be you should make a diagnostic and you can do it in a garage but if you want to do it by yourself you could buy a diagnostic tool here: diyobd2.fr

Zanussi Zob 330: The clock resets itself to 12:00 and makes a buzzing sound after about an hour of resetting the clock to the correct time. What could the problem be and how do I fix it??

The problem is most likely with the Large Rectangle Grey X2 Capacitor on the clock circuit board which needs to be replaced by an appliance repair person or electrician.

From my understanding, although they are self-healing, as they are subjected to power surges they deteriorate and allow less and less current through the circuit until they get to a point where there isn't enough current flowing to firmly latch the relay (which is why there is a buzzing from the relay turning on and off quickly).

My clock was also at the point where there wasn't enough power for the timer beeper, so when the beeper went off it would reset the clock after about half a beep. And if the clock was started at 12:00, when it got to 16:08 it would reset as there wasn't enough power to display all those led segments.

I replaced the 1000uF capacitor, which didn't change anything, then replaced the X2 capacitor and now it works perfectly!

Hopefully that is helpful to someone. :)

Automatic seatbelts, radio/cd player and clock do not work!

Could have the switched 12+ wired to the seatbelts. Which would caquse the radio to overpower the limit set for the seatbelts causing what you are saying. Switch the wire to the ignition source.

Frigidaire Stove clock resets to 12:00 when igniters turned on

local contractor came back. Said 6 other people have reported the problem according to Frigidaire.  Wasn't home so I don't know exactly what they did but they claimed to have moved some wires around.  So far no problems.  Electrical engineering friend said that they likely swapped some ground connections around so that when the ignitor draws current it doesn't drop the voltage of the whole system.  Not sure if a homeowner could troubleshoot and solve this one without directions from manufacturer.
