The load finished on my whirlpool cabrio washer (topload) but the machine won't unlock the lid?

Here is what I do. I run "Tide Washing Machine Cleaner" thru the washer first with HOT water. Then, I recommend running a rinse only with hot water & bleach to rinse the washer out really well and don't forget to leave the lid opened when the washer is not in use.

It sounds like my whirlpool cabrio topload washer has a coin in it rattling around but the tub is empty. What if anything do I need to do?

Take the back off and run it take a flashlight and look inside for something that might have come loose.Hope this helps have a great Thanksgiving.

The lid lock is broken, can it be unhooked, machine will not engage with lid unlocked.

Following is the Whirlpool service manual for their Cabrio washer, basically the same as the Kenmore Oasis.

It has a troubleshooting section as well as diagrams and instructions concerning the Lid Lock.

i think the problem that you have is one of the electric coils from the entrance valve from water. Check if there the vibration comes from there.

You need to replace the lid lock. the latch probably broke in 2, and the broken part is whats keeping the lid closed. if you have clothes inside you can open the top by using a putty knife to release the front clips holding the top of the machine down. push each clip in and lift up. you will also be able to access the lid lock this way.
