She may be trying to connect to a password-protected wifi network - especially if she's in a computer-related business or coffee shop. She should ask the management for a 'code'...

The default key for your home wireless network can usually be found written on the back of your wireless router, should be the WEP or WPA key. WPA is recommended.
If the key isno there you can call your Internet Service Provider for the key.

The code depends on which WIFI signal you are connecting to. For example if you are trying to connect to the WIFI in a hotel, then you have to ask at the help desk there how you should connect. Depending on where you are trying to connect people might not want you on their wireless and you wont be able to get a hold of a network key (code).

Confirm the phone number where you would like Verizon to call you. We will call you momentarily to connect you to our automated system. You can also call us at 1 (800) VERIZON (1-800-204-4427).

Can I use my verizon internet usb air card on my new Sylvania netbook or can I only use it with Wi-Fi

I would assume you can. Your netbook relies on it's WIFI card, but so does a regular laptop. The Verizon card is just another connection--wireless--through your cell account. Should not be machine specific.

Hi, my wife is using her Nokia 6700 classic overseas [currently in India] [we live in Australia]. We set up international roaming, which was working for the first few days of her trip. But, after a few...

Hi there Glen,

Here are few suggestions:

1. If this is a Prepaid sim, make sure your wife has enough load on the sim. Sometimes, even if you still have a few loads left, these networks does not process the text message especially for roaming sims. So let your wife load a new prepaid card.

2. Make sure your wife's phone is configured with the correct SMS Message Center. Ask Optus about it and have your wife double check on her phone's Message center setting.

3. If this is a postpaid, and that your phone can still call you from India to Australia, and that the suggestion in no. 2 was checked, then by all means, the problem is with Optus, considering that SMS sending was working days ago with your wife.

Please let me know if this helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

I cannot turn on the wifi using the Fn-2 key

Not sure on the wifi part but as far as your lost files... when you reinstalled the operating system(windows xp), depending on the options you choose, there is the posibility of losing all of your personal data. This does not nesicarrily mean that the data is gone gone forever kinda thing but it can be an expensive process to recover data that has been deleted and there is not guarentee that all or any of it can be retrieved.
I have used the recovermyfiles software at the site below, before and it took a long time and did recover a good deal of data when my wife did a system restore(reinstalled XP) but it was a lot to sort through because the files do not keep their original name most of the time.... anyway it may be something you want to look into.

I am trying to unlock my verizon 9630 tour so my

When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :-
This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone.
They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone.
Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in this phone or sign up with another phone provider using this phone.

You could ring the phone provider and ask for the unlock security code because you are going overseas and wish to use your phone with a prepaid SIM card from another country. This maybe a free service.
The other way to get your phone unlock is to use a phone unlocking company on the Internet, they usually charge a couple of Dollars for their services. Use Google and search for "Security unlocking code”.

How to unlock the verizon xv6900

If the phone is currently locked then there should be a button that when you hit it, it will ask for an unlock code. If the phone has been programmed, it should just be the last four digits of your cell phone number.
