I have a Kenmore Elite side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water in the door, Model No. 106.58963701. The ice flap is staying open and letting warm air into the freezer and freezing up the ice maker shute and not allowing ice to dispense. Do you know what part number I would need to get to repair this problem?

Check to see if the plastic water line was bent, kinked, or under the wheels. Check for water flow from the water-out line when UNATTACHED from the refrigerator to see if the pressure is enough to pass through the Filter. (you said it was OK). Last inlet valve must open to the filter and ice maker.

Many Kenmore side-by-side refrigerators have an ice and water dispenser installed on the outside of the freezer door. The ice dispenser has a flap that opens to allow ice to be released, and closes after dispensing to keep the cold air inside of the freezer. The dispenser flap is opened and closed by a solenoid, that when energized pulls the plunger attached to the flap, opening the door. If the flap stops opening and closing, it is likely due to a faulty solenoid.

there is a solenoid in the door assbly. it may just be corroded but may require replacement.

You will need to re place the soliniod that closes door flap

take ice bucket out, dump ice, clean with hot water and let dry ,,,, put ice back in and try it ,,, bucket is most likely frozen up thru ports

I resolved the problem on my Kenmore Elite model 106.55616400 by removing the drip tray, taking out two screws that hold the panel, and disconnecting and reconnecting the wires from the panel to the board. Unplugging the refrigerator did not work.

problem is due to ice flap closing too quickly, depending on model some have a delay before flap closes, ice should stop falling 3 seconds before flap closes. Regards Advisor

Evaporator is probably overiced as a result od door not being completly closed at some time recently, turn off and defrost overnight with the doors open, turn on the next day and it should work ok within 24hrs. Regards Advisor
