You may need to format the card first before you use it.
Insert the PS2 memory card into the first memory card slot on your Playstation 2. Make sure that the card is all the way in the slot the card may not register when you turn on your Playstation 2.
Turn on the Playstation with no game or DVD inside of it. Wait for the main menu to pop up on your television screen.
Using your PS2 controller, highlight the memory card option and press the X button. This will open up the memory card menu, which will allow you to delete data or transfer data from one memory card to another.
Wait for the Playstation 2 to send you a prompt asking you to format your new memory card.
Click "Yes" when the formatting prompt appears on the screen. This will automatically format and set up your new memory card for use with your
It could be that they were damaged in someway or the memory slot in the PS2 is broken. I've been able to fix mine by blowing into both openings, the slot and the card, but if that doesn't work, check the game it self to see. Usually the game will say something like "Saving Data-Please Do Not Turn Off System Or Remove Memory Card". If it isn't saying that, it probably hasn't saved at all.
did you try reading the memory card without any game discs put in via the ps2 menu?
is your memory card working properly? could be a corrupted memory card or a faulty memory card slot. try putting a friend's memory card on that same slot. if it works... then your memory card is gone bad... if it doesnt work...then your memory card slot has gone bad.
else try putting your memory card in your friend's ps2, see if that ps2 reads your memory card. if it does...then your memory card slot has gone bad.
You should try with another Memory card. Perhaps the one you're trying to use it Full, or has a bad chip in it. If it is doing it with other games as well, then Perhaps your PS2 has an issue. Try using the Other memory card slot. If none of these solutions works, try taking it to a friends and using their PS2. If this makes it work, then your PS2 has an issue. Contact Sony for repair and replacement options.
i know what your experiencing and i had the exact same problem with my memory card a couple of weeks ago the only thing you could try if you need your memory card is just try and wiggle it around a bit if that doesn't work try and clean out your memory card slot and if that doesn't work you might have to replace it... sorry
The fact that you got it to work at all is a miracle, newer models of the PS2 have the ability to block the use of memcards bigger than 8mb (sony only makes 8mb ones). It's one of the newer features sony put in, like the lack of usb keyboard support and the inability to use some of the non-sony controllers.
