New Shure PG4. RF and audio fm mic OK to PG4 but can't get mic to work with Peavy 680E. Tried different inputs, cables. Other wireless unts works OK. Wonder if pinout is wrong. Using balanced in/out.

It's nearly impossible to troubleshoot dropouts in a forum. Shure has some great troubleshooting hints at: www.shure.com/faq. Beyond that, call Shure at 800-516-2525 and they can help you troubleshoot over the phone.
Sorry, that is not possible. Different manufacturers use different companding, noise reduction, and squelch schemes. Thus, even if they are on the same frequency, you might not get any audio or the audio might sound quite funny.
There are many things that could be causing these types of symptoms. Try calling Shure and asking for their Applications Engineering Department. They can help you troubleshoot your wireless.
