New CD-R discs read Data Only. Can the Sony RCD-W100 be adjusted to record with today's crop of CD-R discs?

Were these discs labeled CD-R Digital Audio? This compact disc recorder can't record to CD-R data disc for computers. See the manual on page 7. The manual is available here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4246/42460761M.pdf .

Apparently, there is a header section on CD-R Digital Audio discs that tells the RCD-W100 that the disc is for audio recording. The work-around would be to process your audio files on a computer and then write the music to the CDs that you currently have.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Problems with finalizing the cds.my sony rcd - 500c will record, but when i finalize my cd and say yes, it will start and right before it finishes it will say 'incomplete

Changers are notoriously unreliable. You might be dealing with poorly made media or if it happens all the time it could be that the sled positioning motor has to be cleaned and re-greased as something is stopping it from being allowed to finish a TOC write.
First I would look for complaints on the Internet to see if other are having this problem and the solution may be posted.
Otherwise the unit will need to be serviced.

Why does it say "no

You're trying to use a blank data disc. Use one that says "audio' or 'music". It's in the manual.

For sony rcd-w500c/w100 won't go to record mode.

Make sure you're using CD-R AUDIO or MUSIC blank discs. It won't record onto data discs.

Can i record audio from my pc to my sony rcd-500c

You can record any audio in the world on your CDR as long as it can be connected via either RCA or digital audio cables.

Depending on your PC's sound capabilities, you should have at least a headphone output that can be adapted to an RCA cable, or you may have an actual Sound Card with RCA audio outputs. And you may have a SPDIF (coaxial) digital audio output that you could use but you have to go into the software controlling the sound card to make sure the digital bitrate is compatible with the CDR (44.1mHz).

Go into your PC's Audio Property controls and make sure the outputs are all on and the volume is all the way up.

It wants a CD-R Audio or CD-R Music blank disc to record on. It won't record on CD-R data discs.

Sony RCD-500C I get a data disc message when pressing record.

You need to use CD-R Music or Audio blanks, not Data. It's part of the spec for home CD recorders to reject blank data disks.
