Question about HP Photosmart M415 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Downloading to computer

The last time I tried to download my pictures from my camera to my computer, the transfer page would come up and when it came to initializing, I received a message stating "Not Connected"
I checked all of my cable wires finding nothing wrong, so I uninstalled everything pertaining to the camera. I restarted my computer and reinstalled and get NOTHING When I go to My Computer, the only thing I have listed is my All in one HP Photosmart C4400 scanner, copier, printer. I go to Add & Remove it lists a HP Photosmart Cameras 4.5 On the Control Panel under Scanners and Cameras all that is listed is the scanner. Am I doing something wrong when I download? I use the disk that came with the camera The disk is titled HP Photosmart,M415 digital camera, HP Image Zone Software. [email protected]

Go out to hp.com and click on support then updates and find your camera and download the latest updated software. I have several hp devices including one camera, and have had to download updates for all of them, The discs which come with equipment are made up before the release of the equipment, needless to say by the time you get it, the disc has long been updated.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo management program.

When I try to download the pictures, the camera just turns off instead of initiating download

First download the latest drivers for your camera, then turn camera on, then hook to USB. (camera screen will look black) while it is hooked to pc.
Then transfer your pictures or sync device with media player

Fuji Finepix XD card was being used last night

When you recieve a "Card Error" or "Card Not Initialized" message, this indicates that your memory may be temporarily corrupted. This can be due to not formatting your memory card on a consistent basis. Most consumers will use the "delete all" feature and continue to take pictures. By doing this, the file format of the card may become unstable.

We recommend formatting your memory card in your camera after saving the images from your previous shooting session. Once a memory card is formatted, the images will not be recoverable.

Trouble transferring pictures from camera to computer

First, Try and install the HP software again. Uninstall the software first and reboot the pc. Then reinstall software. The memory chip maybe have currupt pictures, so format the chip using the camera. You manual should tell you how to do this. Second, Turn the camera on and let the battery run all the way down. This may take some time, maybe a day. Then charge it back up for a day. I hope this helps you out. Let me know.
