Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34XBR800 34" TV Logo
Anonymous Posted on May 04, 2011

My Trinitron's mostly fine, though it's a few years old, but it has a strange display issue. It's almost as though the picture is "zoomed in" about 8%, cutting off about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of the image on every side. 95% of the time it is not an issue, but when I am watching the news or playing certain DVDs or video games, critical information is off-screen or partially off-screen, making the problem noticeable. There are no "screen size" or "zoom" options in any of the setup or video menus. Any ideas?

My mistake, this category is a much newer model than mine (I'm the author of this question). I'll see if I can find the right one. My apologies.

This problems u are having it is not the causes by the tv,because ur tv it is a analoge CRT tv,don't have this functions zooming in or out or the problems just causes only 8% cutting off edges of the tv pictures only.If the problem it is happening to ur analoge tv it will have no vertical hold at all.The devices u are connected to the tv and using have zoomming in or out buttons or ajustment buttons of the sizes of the picture on the screen.Used the devices remotes controls to readjust ur zooming or pictures sizes adjutment.

Thanks. I'll see if perhaps my X Box has a setting that will help. I'm not sure, though, because the problem seems equally spread across cable, dvd and xbox.
    Thanks again.

Sorry, but no one in this forum is going to be able to say "press this sequence of buttons and your expensive repair job will be done by magic".

If the bill is too high, your best option is to buy a new camera. There are several good reasons to do this even if it costs more than the repair- you should get a years warranty with a new camera (at least) and it should start out fault free. A repaired camera will be second hand at best, probably have no warranty (even on the repair) and could easily go wrong again. And it will be an older model. New digital cameras are better and cheaper than they have ever been. Dump this problem and forget it. Go problem free into the future.

Our Trinitron KV-36XBR400 powers up then no picture

How old is this tv?More than 5 years old.Not worth it to repair CRT tv at this prices.Tries unplug, replug an hour later, might help, see if reset itself.U can buy a pretty good 32" LCD tv at $400 or less these day.It not heavy as the CRT tv,it alot easier to move the tv around the house or other locations.

Sony Trinitron TV now taking around 5 minutes for picture to appear (sound comes on instantly) Is it worth repair or should I cut losses and replace set?

How old is the TV?
Sony Trinitron sounds like it may be from the 1980's?
Some TV engineers can use a piece of equipment to do a "tube boost" but this is sometimes risky and can completely ruin the tube, but it's a risk you would have to take.
If the TV is over 15 years old, and has been used regularly, (like 4 hours every day or more) it seems likely that the tube has reached the end of life.
TV cathode ray tubes are like light bulbs...they do not last forever!

I just found my husbands old Minolta maxxum 5 AF Zoom lens camera. I don't know how to zoom in. I am trying to take close ups of my infant and it appears that I can only zoom in on objects 4 feet away....

It's not the fault of the camera itself, it's a lens issue. Zoom lenses can only get so close before the min focus is obtained. Unless you have a macro lens (not suited for portraits, which can focus down to mere inches. Most zooms aren't really designed for close focusing though there are higher end lenses that can be less than 1.5 feet.

Hope this helps!

Picture is gone! :*(

the picture tube (what makes the TV picture work) has blown out. Just call you nearest tv reapair shop and purchase a new one. (these are kind of expensive!)

(Also, if it's fifteen years old, i think it's time to get a new T.V. hint. hint.)

Sony Trinitron 32" TV will not come on and stand-by light blinks

It cant hurt to try...

While I was reading some other post about this problem, one guy said to try using a hairdryer on the right side of the TV1.gif for a few minutes to dry out humidity, becuse the trinitron has some kind of feature that causes it to 'protect itself' when too much humidity is in the air.
Hmmmmm sounded silly, but we had nothing to lose and tried it.
Lo and behold, our TV is back on.
