I have a magic mill mixer. I opened up the motor and found that I need to replace the gear that is next to the worm gear. I was wondering where I can purchase one. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you.

SOURCE: motor worm gear hobat a200

Harry, if you're confident that you can take it apart and repair it yourself, then do the following. Go to www.hobartservice.com website. Register, and when you've been admitted to the site find the discontinued products section on the left hand side of the page, click on it, then select the Food Machines Group, then select Mixers. Make sure that your ML# is covered by the document.Select the file numbered A-200 Parts List F-6728. pdf. Look for the ML#. Once you've selected the document, go to page #9, there you'll find the exploded drawings for the A 200 transmission parts. If you look at the whole document (15 pages), you should be able to see what needs to be taken apart to get at the worm gear.

If you're not sure you can do this...Then don't do it. But if you do, check all bearings, springs and gears for excessive wear and replace as necessary. Hobart techs do this stuff every day. For someone who has not done this kind of rebuilding before, it can be a long and expensive learning curve. Good luck. If you find that this solution has been helpfull to you, please rate it. ricardok45

SOURCE: hobart A200 mixer motor worm gear

sometimes you read of other problems and solutions and it puts you at the edge of your seat. in this case of changing the worm gear on the A200F was cake. when you drop the lower end (3/4 acorn and jam nut), pull out yoke (speed select handle) the center transmision shaft and gears pull right out.worm gear easy to change at this point. if you can change a motor bearing, then you can do this job. Note: change seals and bearings as needed, check all gears, keys and spacers for wear and if you go the mile take gears off drive gears, these are the 2 smaller trans shafts put in lath if you have accsess to one if not roll shafts on flat surface to see that shafts have no bends in them. Also remember when you put the bottom back do not over tighten the jam nut, hold and lock acorn nut, should spin free and have about .016 to .030 movement up or down. Lay out all part on cardboard the way they came out. should go back together easy.

My motor doesnt seem to go round freely

Does the beater shaft turn when there is no load? (bowl is empty) Or it will not turn at all?

It sounds like you have a stripped gear. Your mixer has a nylon/plastic gear inside the mixer and that is 99% of the time what goes wrong. You will want to open the mixer up and inspect all of the gears, but most likely you will need to replace the worm gear, part number W10112253.

Here at MendingShed.com we sell Genuine KitchenAid parts and the items can be found on our website.

Here is a link to that gear: http://www.mendingshed.com/kawormgear.html

You may also want to replace the grease and gearbox gasket while you have the mixer opened up.

We also have a service manual posted on our website which will aid in taking the mixer apart and putting it back together properly.

I have a KitchenAid stand mixer model KT2651X. It recently ground down the worm gear follower, which I purchased a new one along with a new worm gear because this is not the first time it ground down that...

It is not a good idea to modify anything in the unit to make part(s)
designed for another model fit. The KT and KP models have different
part numbers for the motor. I still don't understand why do you have to
change motor in the first place, just because the Worm Gear Follower
has to be replaced. Something is telling me, you have just purchased
the wrong part (Follower). The KT2651x is similar to the KP26xxx
latest models and the Worm Gear does not come with the Follower.
(i.e. they are 2 different distinct parts)

Mixer does not rotate hook

Here is the exploded parts list fr a K45, perhaps it will help you replace the stripped gear inside the gear housing. It is probably the gear which is driven by the motor shaft.:

4162897 Worm Gear

It costs around $10 and can be found on the internet at places like:

While kneading bread my mixer suddenly starting hanging up at the back side. It makes the full circle but when it gets to the back it stops and "hums" and then sometimes will go on but most of the time...

It sounds like you have lost some teeth from your worm gear. This usually happens when the mixer has been overloaded. The teeth on the worm gear are designed to fail first to prevent more serious damage. To replace the part you will need to open the head on your mixer. The gears are at the front of the mixer packed in grease. It should be obvious that the worm gear has broken once the head is open. If it is not the worm gear, with the head open it should be easy to spot the problem. The gears are available as spare parts from several places on the internet. search for "kitchenaid worm gear"

When you replace the worm gear, you should be able to see if you need more grease. This will have been the "oil" you saw escaping.

Replacement parts for Wolfgang Puck stand up mixer

Very close; stand mixer parts (included accessories and manual only) can be accessed from this page:
http://www.wpcookware.com/categories.asp?cat=32
Just select your mixer's part number (located on a sticker inside the base) and click the link for a list of available parts. You will have to create an account to see anything useful, but all they ask for is your name, a password and an email address. When adding items to your shopping cart, be sure to check the 'Select Item' box. The ordering page will ask for the usual info. Prices are reasonable, but beware the shipping cost!
