Have you thought about buying a "junk" one just to have parts for? Maybe place an add in the paper for one with a busted zoom lense for the screen? Or maybe search for a company that deals in "salvage", kind of like a junk yard for camera's.

For this particular camera it really is not too difficult. Of course, used ones are available for under $50 or you can get a really good upgrade for under $100 (all US $)
You could have damaged the battery connectors.. I have done that a few times.. If you open the battery compartment can you see if anything is loose? or if anything has broken off? If so, and you have the warranty on the product.. you can contact Kodak and send them the camera to have it fixed...
With how inexpensive that model has become, as low as $65.00 it would be cheaper to just buy another one and recycle the old one at a facility that takes E-Waste. Sorry for the bad news. Take Care, WN
