Run the melody test *#)*# and check the speakers if its working then its not a hardware issue its a software glitch, in that case download Samsung kies and update the firmware for your andriod.

I just thought this may help u for galaxy ace to add ringtones and notification tones..
Just create these folders to your SD Card and audio files are shown automatically to the ringtones and notifiaction tones. No application needed to add your favorite songs, tones..

For Ringtones:-
SDCARD/ MEDIA/ AUDIO/ RINGTONES
For Nofications Tones :-
SDCARD/ MEDIA/ AUDIO/ NOTIFICATIONS
without modifying the operating system or installing some kind of additional addon, or app. (of which there are many, the normal android OS does not support custom (not factory) text notification tones.
It depends if you want to record your tone or to download new one, or to use existing (but different). In all cases you go to Setting -> Sounds and choose which one you want to change. If it is the case you want a custom one, try downloading Zedge application from the market, download some ringtones and when trying to make changes to notification you will have an option to use Zedge Ringtones.
1. Connect your Galaxy S to computer using data cable.
2. By default it tries to open Kies. Press the home button to exit kies mode.
3. Push down notification bar. You will see usb icon on the notification.
4. Click on the icon and select mass memory or Disk Drive.
5. Now phone will appear as removable as removable drive in My computer.
6. Open the removable drive, Copy your photos to Computer.
The camera pictures are found in DCIM folder on memory card.
Step1: Click on "applications", then select "My files" Create a folder in the root menu and call it "media"
2. Click on media then create another folder and call it "audio"
3. Click on audio to enter then create the final folder and call it "notifiations"
4. When you have done this transfer your message tones to notification folders
5. Go to message,setting,select ring tones and you will see your files
Go to Messages
Press the Menu button and select Settings
Go to Notification Sound and select your message Tone.
Android doesn't have themes but you can change wallpapers to get new look.
Also try Live wallpapers from android market some of which are very cool.
