What settings do I change in my yahoo account so that I can receive my emails to my HTC Hero?

You could just download K-9 Mail, free from the Market andset up your Yahoo account.
Then under K-9 Account Settings for your Yahoo email account > Fetching mail> Folder poll frequency... you can select anything from 1 minute to every 24hours for your Yahoo account to be checked for new emails.
Once you have received the email with the telephone number just press and holdthe number until it is highlighted and "Text copied to clipboard" isdisplayed.
Now go to your dialer and press and hold the dialer strip above the keypaduntil the number is copied into it and then press the dial button.
Be aware that the higher the checking frequency the more drain on your batteryand data transmission. However, set to every minute is almost instantaneousupdating of your email.
This involves only one app and is free.

You will need adjust the mail application's POP settings to get your Yahoo! Mail messages into it.

POP access is a service for owners of one of the following:

Yahoo! Mail Pop Access & Forwarding
Yahoo! Mail Plus Premium Services
A Broadband account
A Small Business account

Please note that access to IMAP servers is not available.

To use an email client or application to send and receive Yahoo! Mail messages, you may need to designate a new incoming (POP) mail server and a new outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Consult your owner's manual for instructions on designating servers in the email application.

If you can't add new POP or SMTP servers, you will need to change your current server settings.

Before you make any changes, write down your current settings. You might need to revert to your original settings later if you decide to send and receive messages from your other email addresses.

The following steps will help you find the POP settings for your Yahoo! Mail account and configure it:

Log onto your Yahoo! Mail account from a PC.
Click Options > Mail Options.
Click POP & Forwarding.
Click Set up or edit POP & Forwarding.

Had this same problem with my Hero (Canada) Called the service provider and they did a reset from their end. Worked now for over a year.

what kind error message. does it say? you might check at the email server to see if you storage limit has been reached.

can't get email from yahoo

I also cant access yahoo email properly on the HTC Hero phone. I set it up and it successfully downloads every 15 minutes and then suddenly stops doing so. I then have to uninstall the Yahoo mail and then reinstall - it works for a few days and then stops downloading!
Is anyone else having this annoying problem??

I'm a HTC Hero user on Meteor BillPay. Had the same problem and got the following solution from Meteor support which worked for me. On the phone, navigate to :

- Settings
- Wireless Controls
- Mobile Network Settings
- Access Point Names
- Meteor Data
- APN Type

Change the value here to the word "default".

Restart the phone and bob's your uncle. I did this and it worked a treat.
