Question about Hitachi 42EDT41 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

2 Answers

Green dots I have the same problem as other posters. I have green dots dancing throughout my picture til the tv warms up. Many then disappear but still some remain all of the time. I had a tech come to my house and I gave him the info from this site. He reset the voltage on the board as suggested and now it is worse. This tv is only 3 yrs old. It appears that many people are having the same problem. Any ideas?

I have received a solution that I do not beleive will help. I have green dots dancing through my picture when the images move. After the unit has been on for a while it is somewhat less however still noticable. The tech that came to my house reset the voltage on the circuit boards and now it is no better if not worse. Any suggestions?

From Shuttle83 - There are many factors that can cause this to occur, First check your A/V cables, then check to see if moving the TV to another location in the room helps. Then the final thing is to have the TV checked to see if your screen bias voltages need to be readjusted (this happens sometimes), this the VScan value / voltage can be adjusted.

if the tv is still under warranty please use the service because getting it repaired if the work around did not work may cost you.

    Take care of:

    Keep the ventilation openings clear.

Do not put TV near appliances that create magnetic fields.

If your TV is suddenly moved from a cold to a warm place, unplug the power cord for at least two hours, so moisture that may have formed inside the unit can dry completely.

Remove lamp to see if it was not inserted correctly (easy mistake to make) and also make sure door on lamp was closed securely--a safety lever there will prevent set from working if door not engaging the lever.

Tv out of foucs

These procedures are from the owners manual, go into menu and then picture quality and then: Convergence The Convergence feature lets you adjust the TV’s three tubes. When the TV tubes’ images are precisely aligned, they create the color images you see on the screen. Over time, the picture can drift out of alignment (this is normal). If your picture seems fuzzy or has a yellow tint, using Convergence could correct this misalignment. Only one convergence is needed for all inputs, regardless of the signal format. Note: Make sure the TV has been on for at least 30 minutes (TV needs to warm up for best results) before starting Auto Converge or Red/Blue Centering. When you select the Convergence feature, a submenu appears with three options: Auto Converge Automatically aligns the projection lenses to self-correct color images. You’ll see flashing squares of color dance across the screen (this is normal). Note: After performing auto convergence, use the Blue Centering and Red Centering menus to fine tune convergence in the center of the screen, if necessary. Blue Centering Aligns the blue and green images to fine-tune the picture. Red Centering Aligns the red and green images to fine-tune the picture. Note: The ability to change channels is disabled when adjusting the convergence options. The TV must be tuned to a usable signal to converge the picture.

I have green dots all through the picture

green dots throughout the picture means the LCD is bad so unless your Vizio TV is under warranty then you would have to get a new TV cause the cost of the screen would be more then you paid for the TV.

Converge off a little and screen has green tint

If you have the remote, go to the setup screen and move the picture. Converge has nothing to do with where the picture sits but, where the red, blue & green dots land. All you should see are pure white dots. There should be absolutely NO color ghost anywhere on the screen. If so, you need a bar / dot generator to set the convergence to center the dots.

I have the same green dots that are seen especially when the bacground picture is dark or black. Mine does not seem to be changing when it warms up, and I also get it on my digital cable as well as on any DVD's I play. Please help with any advise. I think it was always there, but I assumed that a dgital cable upgrade would fix it - I should have known better...

Thanks a bunch in advance...

I had the same problem before. I had my wireless router really close to the tv. I relocated the router, and the problem never came back.

I've seen some of these where some of the cable connectors inside of the set need to be reseated . They have become loose . Or you may have a problem in the video circuit of the set . Good luck
