What you can do is place the icons back on to the desktop by dragging from start-menu and simply creating a shortcut. Then restart the computer and tell me if the problem still exists.

My share and see more buttons quit working and my refresh icon disappeared from my screen.

Not sure if your referring to a browser button at the top of the browser or on the desktop within the desktop itself. In any event Your screen size may be too large to see the buttons. Are they overlapping the web browser. What is the operating system your running? Not sure what your asking other than missing a icon and tick component? John

ACER NOTEBOOK MODEL 5620 will not boot my applcations

After your system boots, try right-clicking on the task bar and select "Properties" in the dialog box that appears. Click the tab that says "Notification Area" and see if the box "Hide Inactive Icons" is checked. If so, remove the checkmark. You can also leave the check there and select the "Customize" button to mark the ones you want to Hide/Show all the time.

Desktop freezes up so often or gets logout by itself & reboot?!

This could be a couple of things, overheating may cause it to randomly shut down, but if it freezes up on you then it could be a motherboard issue or memory. When you boot up your computer, does it beep at you at all? More than 1 beep signifies a problem. Right click on the my computer icon and click properties, see how much memory it says you have, does that number look accurate? A bad memory module could cause similar problems. A bad motherboard would, in my experience, more often freeze when you first boot up.

The computer starts then shuts down.

Try booting up the computer pressing whatever key the Dell needs to boot into BIOS (F10, Delete key, F1...pay attention to the screen) and leave the computer on for about 15min. See if it cuts off then. If it does its more than likely your power supply. If it doesn't then its not hardware related.

G4 problem

Hi, Try shutting the G4 completely down, waiting about 15 seconds, and then booting the Mac with the shift key down. That should clean up a lot, as it gives a safe boot. Then go to disc utilities and repair permissions. That might clean the whole thing up for you. If sounds like it's a Finder problem. If that doesn't work, boot from Disc Warrior or Tech Tools and run a few tests. Good luck!

Computer shuts down

If it only happens at home, then there must be a condition. Make sure that the computer is in a good place with lots of ventilation. The on screen keyboard may use a lot of processing power and so the computer is overheating and then shutting off. If its a laptop, sometimes they like to be propped up on some books so some ventilation can get into the bottom.

Are these computers laptops? Desktops? It could be a power bar issue so try using a different bar, or try moving the computer into another room all together, it could be the electricity in that room. Or the computer may not be plugged in properly if its a laptop...it isnt receiving enough power so it uses the battery until its dead then turns off, check the battery status at times.

I'm not sure what would cause the icons and folders on the desktop to disappear after a restart unless you logged into it differently. If a computer crashes after you place icons on the desktop, it doesn't save the settings of the desktop and so the icons may disappear.

Shut down icon

That is a strange problem.
I will help you to create a shortcut on your desktop for that icon, whenever you need to shutdown your computer, just click that shortcut on the icon.

Right click on the Desktop.
Left click on New > Shortcut.
11e9ffd.png
In the Type the location of the item: textbox enter
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s

The -s parameter is used to shut down the computer.

The following two parameters can be used with -s:
-f Forces running applications to close without warning.
-t xx Set timeout for shutdown to xx seconds.

The following command would shut down instantly.
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -f -t 00

Click the Next > button.

02d9cba.png
In the Type a name for this shortcut: textbox enter
Shutdown My Computer (or some other name of your choice)

Click the Finish button.

Whenever you want to shutdown your computer, click the shortcut on your desktop that says ShutDown My Computer, and your comptuer will shut down the usual way, the way it used to shutdown.
