Question about Compaq Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My brother's computer's internet connection isn't working. This happened to my computer awhile ago, and it turned out a switch on the side was turned off. I can't find a switch on my brother's compag laptop. Is there one?

Thanks, I found the switch, but I geuss that wasn't the problem. My computer is even farther away from the router but it's connected fine. His computer says that there are no networks in range.

Monitor says "No Signal" when trying to wake it up

I had that problem awhile ago, but the issue was a loose connection.

If you test your PC with another good working monitor/cable and still receive a no signal message, then the problem is with your PC.
The solution could be as simple as dust inside the unit interfering with the signal, and needs to be blown out, or try removing the power cord and hold-in the 'on button' for about 30 seconds to a minute; then reconnect the power cord and turn it back on.

Other solutions: open up your PC and take out and put back in the video card; remove the ram memory strips, rub the end gold colored strips on a clean cloth and put them back; or maybe you have a bad video card.

Wont connect to internet

Make sure that the modem/router is up and running. Turn the player off and unplug from wall socket for 1 minute. Then plug in and switch on. This might help.

I bought my netgear WGR614 box 6 months ago. Everything was working fine until yesturday. It picks up an excellent connection but wont connect to the internet. I tried turning it off for awhile, resetting...

This has happened to me before. I had to unplug my router, then unplug my modem aswell (if you have one) and I waited for a good 10 minutes. Then plugged my modem in and let it boot up all the way, then plugged in my router, and it worked fine after that.
Hope this helps, Nathan Taylor

Toshiba satellite a350 laptop stopped connecting to internet

Do you have the wireless switch on on the laptop??? its easy to accidently turn it off, i think its in front or on the side, it should slide up and then that should turn it on.....sometimes this happens.....there should be a light indicating whether or not the its on on the computer.....hope this helps....

You might want to try Belarc Advisor (freeware) which will characterize your system in great detail so you can examine what may be missing. You will need to have Internet Explorer installed since they use this for displaying the results of the system scan.

Computer not detecting

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

THEN, do the "Repair" in the Philips Device Manager
