I am in LA with avis rental with GPS. Last night aftere taking the car out, the GPS work fine and guided me for good 60MI drive. This morning Garmin just keep on saying lost satellite connection and I cant figure out what's going on, I am not in the outskirt of Timbuktu. What could be the issue here?
I have the same problem, and so far the only solution is patience. If you are in a cutting, or between tall buildings, and the satellites are low down on the horizon, then it seems reasonable that reception will be between poor and zero. But in wide open spaces mine too sometimes loses the signal. Hang in there, and contact is restored.

The Garmin Lock (anti-theft feature) security feature has been activated. Going back to the security location will unlock the unit but in order to reset the pin code, the original pin code must be input. You may want to call the rental company and ask them for the pin code. To unlock the unit, it must be sent back to Garmin.
Hello. Begin by checking the cord, specifically the end you insert into the car socket. that end has a fuse in it. You can easily unscrew it to check the fuse. Sometimes, also, that tip comes off so the plug has no fuse and will not charge the unit.
If the plug is ok, remove the tiny frame around the screen with your fingernail. Under that little frame you will see the reset button. Push it.
I connected the unit to the car charger instead of the USB charger and then held down the reset for 10-15 seconds, after which the system would show the computer connection on the charger and then boot up when not on the charger.
had same exact problem. my unit would come on for a minute and then go black. if you take the silver ring around the face you will see the four screws to take the unit apart if you do have to replace the battery. however first try hitting the reset button on the right side of the unit. remember the cover needs to be off. i hit the reset and my unit powered on with no problems
