Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T1 Digital Camera

SDony DSC-TI (5 megapixel)

I bought the camera in 2004 and it has been fine until now. When I switch it on there is a distorted moving image of mostly pink and blue hues. Pictures taken are distorted and look as though the colours have run into one another. I last used the camera about a month ago and those images are fine. THe only difference would be that the battery discharged to empty.

I am having the same problem with my Sony DSC-T1. I have had the camera for a while and it's been great but recently I have bought a new T300 and have left the T1 for so long that the battery has discharged. After recharging the battery; the camera boots up fine and the display looks perfect when entering the setup information however, when you set the camera to take a picture or a movie the screen looks corrupted with a ghost image (of what I am trying to take a picture of) obscured by a series of vertical lines of different colours. When a picture is taken the pictures look washed out with colours bleeding into each other and totally out of focus. Reviewing old pictures is fine and the display is still sharp with all of the controls working. I have tried a reset of the camera but it still does not work. I suspect that this is a firmware problem and nothing to do with hardware but any help in this would be greatly appreciated!

I believe I have the same problem as well with my sony DSC-T1. Everything was fine till about a month ago. Now, when I turn it on and look at the screen while trying to take a picture, it is very distorted, with vertical lines running through the middle of it. Each edge of an object is running/blurring into the next. When I take the picture and look at it, it looks similar but with a little more color saturation. I have no idea what this is. If you have any info, please share!!!!

Thank you all for your help. I just came back from vacation very disappointed because there will be no pictures. The camera will show pictures that are already on the memory stick but new pictures are purple and distorted. Today is deadline for free CCD repair, hope I made it.

I don't have a solution. I have what seems to be the same problem. I am seeking a solution. I reread the manual and did everything it suggests but I'm still unable to use the camera.

5 megapixels or more. In general, unless you're really tight on space or know you're not going to need the resolution, set your camera to its highest resolution (8 megapixels in your case) and leave it there. You can always make a large picture smaller; you can't make a small picture larger.
