It is our first week with the camera. None of the buttons will work other than the take the picture button. Pulled the battery and put back - does not help. Can not view previosly taken photos. The screen says ISO 200 and there is a small green box outlined. Pressing the ISO button (nor any other helps). Is some lock feature engaged? The manual does not seem to help. Thank you.

When you put in an USB cable, the camera starts charging the battery, or when some signals come from the computer it knows it needs to send pictures you the computer and wait till it gets the order to do so.
Only for the more professional camera's there are programs so you also can use the camera in combination with a computer. Professionals buy these software and use it in a studio with the camera switched to live view.
When you want to use the camera, never leave something in the USB connector and make sure it is free from debris.
Any connection in the USB connector, can "fake" a computer or charger connection, and the camera waits till it gets a commend from that port. It won't listen to any command on any button.
When you are sure the connector is free and clean, remove the battery again and reinsert it.
If the error comes back, return the camera (or visit a Olympus certified repair centre) because it must be a warranty issue.
Taking out the battery would do no harm to your pictures. Also in some models of cameras you can force it to shut down by holding the power button for 10 seconds. Might be worth a try . If not you can always remove the battery.
1). Download all you pictures on the memory card onto your computer and format the memory card. This will enhance the performance. Its possible too much pictures are there on you memory card and therefore the camera performace drop and hangs.
2). Clean the battery terminals as well as the terminals on your battery and fully it charge it.
Try the above and let me know if the problem still persists.
Try removing the battery, and put both the camera and battery aside for 1/2 + hour. Reinsert the battery (this will set the camera back to the factory default state) setup the camera again eg date & time etc. If this doesn't fix the problem then the camera is damaged.
One of the buttons is constant presset in. Under the button is a metal membrame, sometimes it happens by to mutch force the membrame is defect, it doesn't popup again. Try to find out witch button doesn feal good anymore, can you work without it ?(for example left macro), open camera and remove membrame. LKet it repait by fuiji ? a least € 100,-.more than new....
I am not sure if this is a solution. but one time, i turned on my camera when the battery is really drained. usually (when it was broken) it will automatically zoom in. but that certain period when i turned it on, even before it can zoom in, the battery drained and the camera went off. i charged the battery and when i put it back and turned on the camera, it works fine. it is still working fine. good thing i didnt had the repair center fix it, because they charge really high price.
