Question about AudioSource System 230 / 235 System

Hook up lower level input to the audio source 230 subwoofer but can't get any sound for the speaker that is hook up through the speaker level input or output.

The speaker level connectors on the sub are for use when you DON'T have an AV receiver-style subwoofer output. They only pass-through from YOUR amp to other speakers. You should NOT use both Line level and Speaker Level input to the sub.

What is your electronics? Have you looked at the manuals?

It depends on the speaker and receiver inputs/outputs. If The speakers have bare wires, and the receiver has spring clamps, you are in luck! Check out what I mean by spring clamps in the image linked below. If you can give the model number of the receiver and describe the wires coming from the subwoofer, I can help a lot more.

I have a Sony STR-DE597 FM/AM Receiver .It has audio out plug and i have a Jensen js650 100 watt Subwoofer. how can i hook them up? Thanks.
The Jensen JS650 does not accept line level input so you need to use the Front B speaker output from your Sony receiver and not the RCA subwoofer output. Even though your subwoofer is active, it does not support line level (RCA) signals.

Just connect the subwoofer as you would a pair of speakers. Once connected, you make sure the front panel speaker switch on the Sony is set to A+B so you get sound from your existing speakers (A) and subwoofer (B).

On the bac of the subwoofer it has speaker level output and input ,how come i cant get no sound out of them when i hook up the other speakers
You may have the speaker/subwoofer cables reversed.

Woofer sound distorted
What audio source you put into your Amp? you can lower the source volume also the amp volume to confirm, where the problem come.
Source input is also important whether you using low level or hi level input.

Actually, if you want to hear TV-related audio, you should hook the source(s) of it (cable, dvd, blu-ray) to compatible inputs on your HTS. Think of the TV as an image producer, not a sound source.

  • If your receiver has a dedicated subwoofer line level output, we recommend connecting your subwoofer to this jack. Most receivers will have just one (mono) subwoofer output, while quite a few subs require two inputs. You can use an RCA "Y" adapter cord , which is a cable with one female RCA jack at one end, and two male RCA plugs at the other. Some receivers require menu settings (such as "sub-on" or "front speakers-small") that must be made before the sub output will be active.

    It is my hope that I can help. This applies to the type of sound card on your PC.

    - If you have a 2-channel sound card: Select 2 on the source selector switch on the subwoofer. Connect the green plug from the audio input cable to tyhe front jack on your PC sound card. With this input setting, your speakers will upmix the 4-channel signal and create a center signal for your speakers.

    - If you have a 4-channel sound card: Select '4' on the source selector switch on the subwoofer. Connect the colored jacks on the audio input cable to the jacks on your PC sound card, making sure to match the colors.

    - If you have a '6'-channel sound card: Select '5-1' on the source selector switch on the subwoofer. Connect the colored jacks on the audio input cable to the jacks on your PC sound card, making sure to match the colors.

    Your sound card is located on the back of your PC Tower.

    I really don't know, because some of the newer gadgets come with fixed volume control due to law suits, ect. Try to see if you can bring you TV menu up and see what the sound setting is.

    Hi, Chances the Audio L/R are line level (can not drive speakers) other than they can either be output or inputs. If they are inputs, they are connected to a source such as a DVD player or if they are outputs, connects to an external amplifier where external speakers maybe connected. hope this be of some help/idea.
