WT 42311 won't power up

The tv was running when it decided to turn itself off.
Since then it will not turn on.
The error code when I pushed the input and menu buttons together is 1 flash pause 2 flashes.

I had the same problem with a WT42311 unit recently acquired second hand and not working. According to the service manual, the error code 1blink, 2 blinks = no error detected! Strange as that sounds (since the set won't power up) I think it means that the diagnostics can't truly get to the real problem due to the set not powering up all the way. I've tried cleaning one of the circuit boards, and now my error code is 2 blinks, 2 blinks, which is supposed to mean "short protect circuit". I take that to mean I have a short circuit, the tv has detected it, and the set is turning itself off to protect itself from damage. This is more that I had before so I guess the cleaning did something. I'll clean things up some more and see where this goes. I hope I don't have to de-solder and replace any parts, but we'll see.

All that is wrong is the Convergence IS's. They are located on the deflection board (IC8C01 and IC8C02) and are mounted to a very large heat sink. They are black and are STK IC's, STK392-110. Replace both IC's with STK392-120 and you're in business. The -120's are and upgrade and have a higher amp rating. The IC's can be found anywhere on the internet for $9.99 and up. Check Electronix.com, MCM Electonics, Mat Electeonics for starters. Gook luck. Gary D.

This is a V20 chassis and if it shuts down it should trigger an error; note if no error the power light should blink 1, 2 pause and repeat it several times---this is no error found.

I would unplug the set for a few minutes (this clears the error buffer) and turn on again and wait for failure; you must push menu and input and hold for at least 5 seconds and let both go.

IF no error code this is a model made around 2002 (date will be on back of set) and it must display some error code.

If you find none I can suggest looking for any signs of Glycol leaks inside the set. If you need to know what to look for let me know and I will tell you.

Again: All models after 2000 (and some before) have the error buffer.

Let me know if you have questions.

IF YOU GET A CODE 12 WHICH IS THE BLINK PAUSE BLINK BLINK THEN THE TV THINKS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ITSELF. ARE YOU SURE IT ISNT CODE 22 BLINK BLINK PAUSE BLINK BLINK? THAT WOULD BE A CONVERGENCE FAILURE COMMON FAILURE FOR CRT REAR PROJECTIONS.

Power comes on but goes rite back off

Hello.
you can try to retrieve error code first.
Plug TV into wall outlet. Push power button, let it do whatever it does. After that push BOTH buttons in front of TV named "Menu" and "Input" and hold it for at least 5-6 seconds.
Green LED in front of TV will start blinking error code (when it starts you can let buttons go).
If it clinks like "2 blinks, pause, 2blinks longer pause, repeat" most likely you have convergence issue. Two convergence amps have to be replaced along with couple PICO fuses that already open.
I would strongly recommend to let professional do this repair. As well in case of different error code.
Should cost you in ball park of $250-$300.
Regards.
Russ.

Tv turns itself off

do the self test the set has.

when green light (power) comes on and then goes off, press and hold BOTH the Menu and Input buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons on the front of the set.

The power light will display a error code: for example 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks (this is the most common one) and it will repeat the code about 5 times.

To get it to repeat it you have to unplug set, plug it back in and turn it one and when it fails repeat the check.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what may be wrong. I hope it is 2,2 as it is the least difficult to resolve.

Inputs randomly stop registering, screen goes blank

Code 12 indicates no error. Push the Menu and Device buttons after the TV has shut off to get the proper code, not after you unplug and plug it back.

It seems your set is not Mitsubishi WS-55819 so it will help if you can give the exact model.

TV TURNS ITSELF OFF

If the WS-65809 comes on and then the power light goes off---do the self check this model has:

When the light goes off on the power button----on the front of the TV press both the MENU and INPUT (or device) buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light should blink a two digit error code--for example--2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks--this is the most common error code and costs the least to fix.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

21 error code means the set is shutting down due to xray protection. Try removing each one of the CRT PWBs one at a time and try powering up the set. replace previous removed CRT PWB before trying the remaining CRT PWbs. let me know the outcome. Please respond to this same post when replying
