Moen makes six models of the Adler shower faucet. You can find the specific installation manual for the faucet you have on their website, at LINK. Select the unit you have and open the PDF of the manual on the following page.
The faucet was installed upside down.
The shower riser pipe in the wall is to short( the distance between the faucet and shower head).
One of the biggest problems is if your shower faucet was installed with Pex pipe to the tub spout. Pex pipe will restrict the flow and force the water back up and out of the shower head.
The tub spout must be piped with at least 1/2 brass pipe nipples and fittings, or 5/8 OD. copper pipe and fittings.

This is something that probably can't be done over the fone. You have to have the paperwork in front of you and be able to see it. I know what to do, but couldn't relay it to you so you would understand. The paperwork is important, do you have it? Look up your faucet on the net and see if they have instructions somewhere. Moen provides a lifetime warranty and doesn't require a receipt. Just call them and explain the problem and they'll send a replacement cartridge which should solve your problem. Cartridge replacement is pretty straightforward so it should be no problem to do it yourself. The one you have probably has a bad washer.
When it was installed was there any copper sweating done? If so, the valve cartridge can get fried if not removed prior to the immense heat from a torch.
This is a common problem with this type of shower mixer valve. They are not very good at regulating with pressure change. Your options are somewhat limited to not flushing the toilet or using any other taps when in use, repalce the mixer valve for a modern ceramic unit or installing a 2 vane hot & cold shower pump.
