Nikon View was retired years ago. Nikon Transfer handles the transfer portion of it, and Nikon ViewNX2 handles the viewing/cataloging portion. You can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software at

Hey tmcbk, Unfortunately Nikon does not make a compatible remote release for this camera. What I do if I don't have a remote release for the camera is use the self timer function on the camera. You must have a software in your computer to read the pictures. It can be kodak easy share, hp photo smart, or any photosmart software. This softwares might be available in the brands website for free.
Your computer needs a photo program to upload your pictures.
One easy way is to go to a store with photo service and have your camera card pictures put on a CD. This CD usually brings photo programs sofware and you will be able to use them next time from your camera into the program then into the computer.
