Cant read or burn dual layer dvds - Hitachi LG GSA-4120 DVD+-RW/RAM 12x Burner W/ Dual Layer Support (GSA4120) Burner

If it is not a dual layer DVD burner then it will not burn those dual layer disc.. Sould like all you have is a ROM read only

What are you burning the DVDs with?

try burning the dvd's at a lower speed, most of the dbl layer drives have similar type of problems.

Enable DMA mode, and choose reducing burning speed. Is a Low Quality DVD-Drive, I prefer ASUS DVD-Drive. Reads all, and Burning without fails,

You may have to install some kind of DVD burner software such as Nero burning ROM to burn dual layer DVDs. the default windows CD burner does not recognize dual layer disks. You can also use this free software for burning dual layer disks

Update the firmware if a newer one is available.

Multi-Layer support means the drive can Read/Write a Dual-Layer discs.

Lightscribe means you can create a label on a disk.

try different type of media

go to nero 6.66 and use imation discs, if your os is running ok and you do not suceed whith that i told you, your dvd unit is bad.
