Installing a Wireless Router Is usually a step by step process for all brands , To get this installation done properly first thing you want ot do is Plug in the power cord and turn this Router on nearby the Modem that your internet Service Provider gave you. Once the Unit is powered I would like you to unplug the ethernet cable that is going from your cable box to your desktop and plug that ethernet wire to the back of your new D-link wireless router into the WAN port. Once you do that you should allready be transmiting wireless but your name will be the default D-Link and you wont be encrypted (Protected from others getting into your internet). To get password encrypted you will have to using your web browser by typing "http://192.168.0.1" into the URL address box and press enter. Then from there you should select the Wireless section and put a SSID name which is what shows up when you find your wireless router on another computer and WEP or WAP is the password encryption if you want to make it easy I would suggest you use a WEP 64 BIT and that will only ask you for a 10 digit number. I usually tell my customers to put in there phone number with the area code . then from there you can navigate the other options you can customize and save the router settings and you should be up and running from there. using your web browser by typing "http://192.168.0.1" into the URL address box

Can not install software???

I find the built in windows software normally works fine, But it was probably disabled when the software was installed.
You can either plug into your router with an Ethernet cable and download the new software or enable the windows wireless.

To enable the windows wireless configuration right click the WIFI connection and go to properties ,wireless networking tab and then check the top box saying use windows to configure my wireless network settings.

How can I make a password for my D-Link 520T Router?

If you wanna go wireless and your router is not wireless, you can simply buy a wireless access point. Connect it to your router and it will give you wireless service, hence your laptop can connect wirelessly now. You can just buy a D-link wireless access point.

Xbox to router

It would work. Any wireless router that is wireless B,G,on N, will work. To be honest, D-Link isnt a very good brand, so I would buy a Linksys or Netgear. (If your gonna buy it, buy a good one)
