Yeah this isnt caused by the Tape I have had an issue way back with my tape driver as well and it was an internal mechanical malfunction, the gears that hold the tape in position push the tape internally on its gears and read / copy data but when it no longer is aligned with the gears it just keeps spinnning and eventually ejects automatically. Unfortunately I didnt open it up and fix but I was able to send it back to the Manufacturer and mine had 5 year warranty and they fixed it.Im new on here so if my solution helped you please give some good feedback on my answer thank you

Tape ejects and will not play

the tape player will first look to see that the tape threaded properly around the video and audio heads ... then it will check to make sure the tape take up reel starts to move before allowing it to continue .. if the take up reel doesn't move in a couple of seconds after insertion then the tape would spill out inside the machine and make a real mess order to prevent that the machine ejects the tape.

take up reels often quit because the rubber wheels, belts or friction drive components have become hardened from age .. if the take up drive is not strong enough then it wont pull in the tape .. in order to prevent tape and machine damage the recorder ejects the tape .. that can also happen if the rubber parts have contamination or lubricant on the friction surfaces ... you can sometimes clean those wheels and parts using distilled water or special cleaning fluid .. dont use alcohol since that will remove elastomers in the rubber .. sometimes you can use a pencil eraser to clean up the friction surface by removing oxidized rubber... the proper fix is to replace the rubber take up reel drive parts if they are still available .. a rubber wheel liquid dressing is available that improves the surface for a while ..

the same problem happens in high humidity areas .. if the humidity is high enough then the tape tends to stick to the audio head and other guide parts .. if that happens then the take up reel will also stop moving .. warming or drying the tape and air (air conditioning or dehumidifier) can fix that but it takes a few hours ..

if a machine has not been run for a long time then sometimes just by cycling it many times trying fast forward and reverse can clean up the drive parts enough to get it working .. but do that on tape you can afford to lose .. be careful you dont end up with a lot of tape piled up inside the machine.

some late model high quality machines have a different drive mechanism that is more reliable .. sometimes you can find really nice machines at goodwill .. the better name brand ones may still have parts available .. the low cost units are considered disposable and are almost never worth the work that it takes to fix them unless you do it yourself .. the mechanism borders on genius but workmanship and mechanical cost cutting often resulted in machines that barely worked even when new ..

LTO tape Drive keeps ejecting tape

This could be that you are putting an LTO3 or LTO4 tape in the drive (or expired cleaning tape) Or it could be that the tape or tape drive has a problem reading the data.

Try using a brand new cleaning tape (clears the cleaning issue) and then try a brand new LTO2 tape.
If this works, then the issue was just related to your tapes, if this does not work then there must be a problem with he drive itself.

If the problem is with the drive, then contact for replacement costs. These drives are now very inexpensive and it might just be easier to replace the drive.

If you want to attempt to fix the issue yourself then respond back with a few more details and i will try and advise you on the best things to try.

Daewoo DVT5DN - when tape is inserted it mechanically accepts it, and seems like it starts play mode but then ejects it. Tried different tapes with same results, tried cleaning inside w/ compressed air. ...

It's almost certain that some damage has occurred to the mechanism. This might be visible to the eye. Whenever a tape cannot be played the electronics will detech this and shut the unit down to prevent further damage. Cleaning will not make any difference unless some kind of object has become lodged inside the works. My advice is to look at any plastic parts connected with the 'playing' parts for breaks, or cracks, or even lose parts.

VHS tape plays for a few seconds and automatically ejects

My guess would be dirt on the rollers inside the VCR. They sesnse a jam and ejct. Try a VCR cleaner (with cleaning fluid) and see if that helps.

Video tape ejects itself

not to overlook the obvious but check to make sure the record safe tab is still on the tape. (little black tab on lower left corner on back of tape)if tab is gone the machine will not go into record mode.
