Question about Sony KDS-60A2000 60" HDTV
Started noticing a Yellow color on the right bottom of the screen. At times it travels to the middle of the screen.
Sony extended Optical Block until 06/302010. Will re-imburse your if you replaced the optical block out of your own pocket

Aspart of the Sony commitment to quality, Sony is announcing that it isextending the limited warranty (parts and labor), in the United States,on the optical block of the above-referenced 2006 model SXRDtelevisions until June 30, 2010, regardless of purchase date. For anycustomer who requires repair of the optical block on one of theaffected models, Sony will cover the cost of the optical block repair(parts and labor) at no charge through June 30, 2010. This extendedwarranty does not apply to the replaceable projection lamp or the otherparts that may be used in the televisions.
Sony is also announcing that for any owner of these modeltelevisions who paid out-of-pocket expenses on or before November 30,2008 for an estimate or repair service to replace the optical block,Sony will reimburse the customer by mail for the cost of the opticalblock and the labor expense to replace it, subject to certainconditions. To receive reimbursement, please follow completely thedirections on the claim form for reimbursement; all claims must be postmarked by January 31, 2009. All other terms of the Sony limited warranty continue to apply. Sonyutilizes a network of hundreds of qualified independent third-partyservicers to perform in-home television warranty service. Sony, throughits authorized servicer network, will endeavor to repair your setwithin 30 days of your first contact. I just spoke to Sony support here in the United States. They are sending a technician over tomorrow morning to replace the optical block on my KDS-60A2000.

Common problem (unfortunately) - the optical block is faulty and needs to be replaced. Contact Sony support and jump through the required hoops. If your set is still under warranty, no worries. If not, expect to pay for labour, and Sony will *probably* provide the service part at no charge (~$1300 retail). It is not a simple process, be patient. It has taken me over a month and a half of calls, faxes, and waiting to get all the paperwork done on my 60A2000 failure. For more information on the problem, Google "sxrd + optical block"
