You may have a defective lid switch. Does the washer fill normally, then just stop? Or...does the washer fill, agitate, then when it gets to the spin cycle, it stops? Either symptom can be caused by a bad lid switch. The link below will explain how to access it. If you open and close the lid, you should hear a "clicking" sound as the lid switch is activated. If you do not hear the switch, check to make sure the lid strike in still intact. This is a small plastic piece mounted on the lid that pushes down on the switch through a slot on the wash tub opening on the right hand side. If this piece breaks off, it will give the same symptoms of a broken lid switch. Next, check the two mounting screws on the right side of the wash tub opening to make sure they are tight. These are the mounting screws for the lid switch. Sometimes they come loose and the switch does not make proper contact. If you attempt all these preliminaries, and the switch still does not seem to be working properly, replace it. A replacement can be found at Just type in your model number and the part will be located under the "Top and Cabinet" heading. For instructions on how to replace a lid switch, click on the following link:

Now...if the lid switch checks out good, you may have a defective drain pump. The pump on these washers are a sealed unit and cannot be serivced. They have to be replaced. What can happen is the socket on the back of the pump can round out causing the shaft from the drive motor to "free spin". What happens is the drive motor will turn, but the pump impeller will not - resulting in standing water in the tub. If you require instructions on how to replace the pump, follow this link:

The pump may be found out the same website under the "Pump/Gearcase/Motor...heading. Each part usually is priced in the $25 to $35 range.

If you would like to do some comparative shopping, you may also try,, or to name a few. Use the part numbers on the Sears website for cross referencing. I hope this helps you. Let me know if I've misdiagnosed and we'll try to get on the right track.

PS There are problems associated with the drive motor and timer that can also cause a no drain problem, but are less common. I mention the simpest options first, so we can either fix or rule them out. You may need to elaborate on your symptoms a little more if the switch or pump is not the cause.

Washing Machine cannot drain & spin after the wash.

ok pull the machine out and lower the outlet pipe in to a bowl and see if the water will drain under gravity if it does it could as simple as the pump jammed drain the machine remove the pump and clear jam, if it wont drain it could be blocked see if your machine has a filter (will tell you in handbook) be careful you can get very wet! I always lean them back about 30degrees to send water to back of drum

After washing clothes smell stale. We have tried adding more detergent without success and draining the pump on a regular basis. Any ideas?

Check the drain pipe at the rear of the unit, sometimes the position allows the dirty water to re-enter the washing machine and sit there between cycles. Some units have a rigid plastic holder to ensure the pipe is curved at a specific height so the water empties using gravity as well as the pump. (Same process as syphoning liquid, once the liquid is flowing through the pipe, gravity continues to **** the liquid through) You may also need to check the pipework from which the detergent/softener enters the unit as these can sometimes go a little mouldy. Once you have looked at these two problems, run the machine empty on a high temperature cycle to clear away any disturbed grime.

Good luck, hope I was of some assistance

How do I drain the barrel

If this is a top loading washer, an easy method of draining the wash tub is to pull the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and lower it into a bucket. Gravity will allow the water to drain. If the washer is in a laundry room or utility room with a drain in the floor, you can simply lay the drain hose on the floor and allow it to run into the drain.

A less messy method is to use a wet/dry shop vac and pull a vacuum on the drain line to pull the water from the wash tub. Most of the these top loaders have a capacity of about 30 gallons, so you will need to empty the shop vac a few times to empty the tub. Make sure you place the drain hose back into the standpipe when you need to empty the vacuum or gravity will force the water on to your floor.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

After wash cycle machine does not drain water and spin

could be your pump has stopped working, or a blockage first check that your stanpipe is clear, get a bucket and put outlet hose end in if it drains into bucket then it is a plumbing problem not the machine.

Water will not drain on neptune MAH3000AWW washer tried different cycles. It started working for a while after we took back off and took things apart but now it won't drain at all.

There are many things could make a dishwasher not drain, here's a list of the most common reasons.
  • a clog or air gap in the drain line, often the problem is where the drain line attaches to the household drain line, if you remove this line you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection.
  • a defective pump, your dishwasher pump ejects the water.
  • many dishwashers use a drain valve or solenoid, the solenoid can sometimes become stuck or defective solenoid.
  • a defective motor, if the motor is'nt turinig or working the dishwasher won't drain.

My waser drain hose will no allow the water to flow out...washer sounds like stones clicking together. When the drain pipe is placed almost on the floor it works well.

if you are hearing stone like sounds from your washer while it is pumping.. then there is a good chance you have something caught in the pump itself.. coin, bobby pin, or some artifact..You'll have to gain access to the pump and clear out whatever you find in there..
The drain hose works well when you put it on the floor because your water is draining from gravity and not from the pump ( the pump has to push the water up the hose)...
Hope this helps you..

Washer does"nt do last spin

Often people think machine not performing "last spin cycle" when machine "pausing" allowing gravity to drain wet clothes then turn clothes again then pausing again allowing gravity to drain wet clothes. Wait for a minute or two verifying machine in normal "pause" status.
