I have the above printer that I bought specifically for printing pictures. When I print, I get a "double vision" effect. Typed words end up with an echo-like effect, faces are not clear at all. It's like one image prints slightly to the side on another. It's not too bad in the middle of the image, but get progressively worse as you approach the left and right sides of the image. I suspect that the cartridges are not alliged correctly, but I've alligned and realigned the blasted things. Help!
Guru: This printer is not a fax, so I there is no # or 6 to press while plugging in the power cord.
techexpert12: Last week, I did try printing a test page directly from the printer (not from the computer) and all tested fine. However, I could not find a problem with the computer settings. I have a HP "workhorse" printer that I use for most of my printing, and the picture printed fine on it--just not on the HP Photosmart 7550.
So--I tried this just now:
Went to: Control Panel/Printers/Photojet 7550/Printer/Printing preferences/services/"calibrate the device". After calibration, I printed out a picture on the HP 7550 and the picture looks much better. I can actually read the type! So, I fixed the "double vision" problem. But I found another. Under "services", I can also "Calibrate Color". Sounds like a good idea, right? When I hit this, I get a message saying that both the tricolor cartridge AND the photo cartridge must be installed to do the calibration. But I have both of these cartridges installed!! Ugh! I cleaned both cartridges and reinstalled. The printer still does not recognize the installation of both colored cartridges. Try giving the selt test copy from the printer only not from the computer.if its proper than the picture setting must be not proper in your pc. and if the test page does not come properly and shows the same problem remove the cartridges and clean it with moist tissue and fit it properlyas it was.
On the printer’s control panel press the MENU button.
2 Press the DOWN arrow to highlight
Print a diagnostic page, then press the
OK button.
A diagnostic page prints with
information regarding your printer and
print cartridge ink levels.
There are known issues if you are not using geniue hp cartridges. Can you try the printer in another computer to see if its a issue with your computer or a internal printer issue?
your printer is not a all in one, but you can try if this works
A semi-full reset will do the following: The user settings to the factory defaults, Language and country settings on some models, Fax logs, Fax headers, Fax speed dial information.

Hello, please try the "HP image zone" software that you can install form the CD included in the printers box, in order to scan. About the memory card, have you plugged a memory card to the printer?

I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy
paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print
button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it
will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I
have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there
over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this
way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps.Bud
Ensure that the memory card has been removed from the memory card slot.

If it's a B&W or sepia photo, and you wanted to print B&W or grayscale anyway, pull the color cartridge (assuming a 2 cartridge system). I did that with my HP DJ 5440 and it works perfectly.
There are some print head cleaning modes you may want to try. In your menus , look around for those and run the print head calibrations and cleaning procedures. Also with the printer unplugged. Dampen an cloth with some rubbing alcohol and remove the print cartridges, lightly clean all the contacts with that damp cloth. They may just have some ink on the contacts giving you a false failure message. Hope this helps you out. They can be fickle.
I have had this problem with my 7550 for a while now and I finally found this on the HP website and it seems to have fixed my problem, I also replaced all of the cartridges:
Issue
While printing from an HP Photosmart printer, the printer screen displays
Print cartridge cradle is stuck / clear jam and then press OK
.
The printer may also make grinding sounds. This can occur after a paper jam when another printer part blocks the cradle.
Solution
Follow these instructions to adjust the clutch on the printer.
Disconnect the USB cable.
Press the printer power button to turn off the printer.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
Open the top cover of the printer.
Remove the print cartridges from the printer.
Slide the cradle to the right side of the printer.
Locate the clutch on the left side of the printer.
NOTE:
The
clutch is a flat, white, plastic component that rests just above the
white roller gear wheel. In the HP Photosmart P1000 and P1100 printers,
the clutch is black metal.
