Question about Sony CDX-GT310 CD Player

1 Answer

Sony CDX-GT310. Installed by Circuit City about 15 months ago. CD works fine. No sound from radio (both AM & FM). I've manually tuned through the range of stations with no reception. Checked antenna, connected at both ends. Brought back to CC where they plugged it into their bench with same results. Opened unit and can find no bad solder connections. When volume is maxed out, can hear a little static and at some FM frequencies, a light clicking (like morse code) and maybe very faint music. Pressing SEEK or SEEK- gives no results. It's as if the unit is not recognizing any radio signals. Again, the CD portion and controls all work fine.

CD player works fine - but no radio reception - just static and some reception from a local powerful am station. Should I just buy another radio?

Called a shop in VA and their opinion was that the tuner section of the unit failed. Cost of the part, $80. Then, labor and shipping. I can buy the new model (GT320) for about $95. I opted for buying a new unit.

check the connectors between the faceplate and the unit carfully they can get damaged with constant removing/refitting if not the faceplate and/or unit is faulty

Radio stations fuzzy and not coming in anymore - Sony CDX-GT310

Could be a bad connection in between radio and antenna . Check that first . If that doesn't work try a film strip antenna

Sony CDX-GT310 CD

Hi,

The yellow wire must be directly connected to an always ON B+12 such as the + terminal of the battery. This wire is responsible for providing power to the memory.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
