A single beep is ok, it is the Bios telling you that the laptop has passed all the system checks. Rapid beeping indicates a sticking key on the keyboard, if you are getting any other beep sequences, please repost and describe what is happening when the beeps occur and how many beeps there are
Usually if it beeps 5 times on this model,I have found that either replacing the micro-switch at the brake assy is malfunctioning. You can either choose to have this micro switch replaced or bypass the switch by connecting the 2 wires together that go to & from the switch itself.Hope this helps. There is also a troubleshooting guide in your owners manual in regards to the number of beeps & the cause.. Barry ([email protected])
I doubt it would beep when switched off because when switched off all the circuits would have no power going to them, it would surely beep only when in standby mode and that would probably be a reminder to ensure it is switched off or unplugged when not in use.
