My ROYAL VF1000 PAPER SHREDDER will not shred eventhough i have let it cool done for more than a day, clean it out completely, oiled it and still the rotors will not turn. I do see that when I turn the power on that there is some sparks within inside the machine. Is it possible that I have burnt and blown something connected to the motor that turns it? IF so, how do fix it?

Mine stopped working and the overheat light comes on. it will run in reverse OK, but as soon as you go to forward and put a peice of paper in it, red overheat light comes on right away. Took it apart, inside was totally jammed with shredded paper and dust. Packed tight around the motor, gears, everything. It;s a miracle it didn't catch fire! Poor design. Motor commutator was badly glazed, took apart an cleaned it. Still sparks like mad. I think it's toast! Didn't really last that long (less than 2 years) and it wasn't cheap. It going in thr trash I think!

Sounds like a short,
power cord loose or shorting
motor going bad
disconnect from wall
open and check the plug connection, fix or if o.k
plug and see where sparks are coming from, if motor replace (or just buy a new one)

Royal 85x paper shredder: The shredder will start to shred but stops shortly after "grabbing" the paper. In order to get it shredding again, I have to put the machine in reverse, remove the...

Sometimes spraying shredder oil on the cutting teeth wil work.

You should shred paper with a light weight machine oil poured on the paper to keep the cutting teeth working freely.

Good luck.

P.S. If this doesn't work then just take the head off and cleanj/lubricate any bearings you find.

How do I oil my royal crosscut shredder 1610X

To oil your shredder, squirt some shredder oil onto a piece of paper (don't completely soak the paper) that you wish to shred & feed this paper through your shredder.

My royal shredder will shred paper just fine but now it won't shred a credit card. any ideas?

Silly question if it shreds paper fine but....when did you last oil the machine.???
Cross cut shredders need to be regularly oiled..( pour some shredder oil across the cutting blades).
It may just be that the credit card is too thick!

I purchased a Royal Shredder, Mod. VF1700MX, Ser. No. 080245302 on Feb. 25, 2009. It was sent back for repair, under warranty about a year ago. I never shred more than 5 sheets at a time.It now cuts out on...

Have you ever "oiled " the machine...99% of cross cut shredders have to be oiled... get some shredder oil and squirt it onto the cutting blades where you put the paper in...this should be done with a certain frequency dependant on the amount of shredding that you do.

This shredder overheats after 1 to 2 thin weight sheets of paper. Says it does up to 10 sheets but can not handle more then 1 sheet at a time. I have cleaned and cleaned the cutters with no improovement

Have you "oiled" the machine ever.????
Cross-cut shredders require occasional oiling with "shredder oil" to help clear out debris that is made in the shredding process from the cutting mechanism. Get some shredder oil and pour it directly across the cutting blades where you insert the paper... this should help...the occassionaly pour some oil onto a sheet of the paper to be shredded prior to shredding it.

Shredder motor runs but won't shred paper. No

If the motor is running do the cutting shafts turn??? if not then unplug and open up the top to see if any gears are broken/stripped; give Royal a call at 1-800-524-0799 for parts and prices once you've located the problem.

ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.

Royal VF 1000, overloads with one sheet of paper

Try pouring some shredder oil into the cutting blades where you insert the paper then run the unit in reverse for a while. Then put some of the shredder oil onto a sheet of paper and try shredding the sheet of paper. Some lubrication on a x-cut shredder does not hurt.

Royal VF12mx shredder

Pour some shredder oil in the throat where you normally insert the paper...put some shredder oil directly onto 1 sheet of paper and try shredding 1 sheet. If it wont even shred 1 sheet I would ask is the shredder running???

Paper will not feed into machine

Most likely the sensor in the insertion area is not recognizing a paper when you try to insert it to be shredded.

Try to clean out the gears, and oil the grinders.

Clean around the insertion area to remove any debris from around the sensor. (Be sure to turn it off/unplug it first!).

If you can remove the shredder head/grinders from the body of the shredder box, turn it upside down and clean it that way as well.

Sometimes the little pieces of paper get clogged up inside the gears.

I got some of the dust spray with the straw...inserted the straw deep into the shredder grinder/gears and sprayed.  I got tons of stuff out.

My motor/grinder worked perfect after I did all this.

Good luck!
