Try holding in the power button on the camera with the charger connected to the camera & still plugged into the wall outlet. This may be a reset the manual doesn't tell you about or simply a weird fix for the same problem I had with my F10.

When the light does not come on while charging as you suggested might be the battery is dead but even when batteries die the indicator foe charging still comes on. From a professional point of view i would say it is more likely the charger is spoilt this means the camera does not supply power to the unit. Hope this solution has been helpful?
I started having a similar problem with my Fuji FinePix F10 after about 3 1/2 years of problem-free use. Another poster had some really helpful advice which I thought I'd pass on. It seems there is an internal battery or capacitor which basically fails after a while, meaning date/time settings etc are lost when the battery is removed. (Some people claim this is a motherboard/chip problem instead - seems to be contentious!) So the camera is faulty, but the problem can be worked around.
The advice I found, which worked for my camera, was this:
- Turn off camera and leave off for approx 15 seconds before opening battery door. - Change battery quickly (within a few seconds). - Close battery door and leave camera off for approx 15 secs before turning back on.
This retained all settings when I tested it multiple times. I imagine it might not work if changing over a totally dead battery though.
I have same problem as edmoze mentions above - batteries went dead. I first tried to use regular Duracell AA and it would still not come on. Went to internet & it recommended getting the Duracell rechargeable NiMh which I did. Got the charger & last nite they charged overnight. Today the camera did come on & I was able to download what I had taken. But what concerns me is that the low battery light is still flashing after a night of charging. What's up? Should I expect this kind of battery problem to continue? Seriously considering getting a Nikon Coolpix.
my finepixz3 got wet. but after a few days it worked! but when the battery ran out it wont charge. is it the battery? it turned on a few sec when its in the cradle but it wont last after a few seconds it would turned off. is it the battery or the camera itself?
