I'm currently using a 2.4 GHz wireless optical mouse product number WR564A. Recently the mouse has stopped working in an odd fashion. The button in the mouse wheel flashes as if the batteries are low, after having tried of twenty different batteries, pre and post use, none of them seem to work. Rather than thinking every single battery I've tried, even fresh out of a pack is dead it seems there is another issue I can't pinpoint. It also seems recently something on my computer seems to state the installation is incomplete due to missing software, literally states it's unable to locate the software, doesn't say anything specific about what is missing just software. The HP mouse suite is installed on the computer however the mouse is incapable of action. The pointer does not move and none of the mouse buttons work either. If you have an idea please help me out here I'm out of ideas.

SOURCE: HP Wireless Optical Mouse Fading

Ref wireless mouse. Not sure if you have a solution yet but it seems there could be 2 sources to the problem. First a weak or decaying laser. Second, something you have introduced recently that could interfere with the wireless signal eg mobile phone, another wireless device, cordless phone, telephone wires close to receiver or maybe something else. Not sure what you do if the laser is failing other than clean the lens. You might have to get it checked or try a friends mouse to see if it is better. There s also a setting than can change the sensitivity of the mouse. Have you looked at those settings.

My 99917 Rev.S4 Mini 2.4GHz mouse isnt working how can i fix this?

Well you MAY consider this:

2 4 GHz Wireless Mouse 5 Buttons Optical Wireless 2400 DPI Notbook...

it's only slightly larger than yours BUT it is also only $3.75
and with more functions that your current mouse.

I am using one just like it now and like it so much I bought two more for spares... Not that I've needed a spare yet... but when this one finally fails, my replacement mouse will be like a old friend!

How do I turn the mouse off/on?

Hi Charles,
According to:
Product Description Color: Brown
The Maxell 2.4 GHz Wireless Safari Mini Optical Mice have more than cool looks. Since they are 2.4 GHz wireless optical you'll notice less signal loss. They also have 3 key buttons and a scroll wheel so you can speed through your computer programs. The Maxell mice are wireless so you don't need to worry about wires getting in the way. They can detect a computer up to 32 feet away. These are compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, ME, Mac OS 10.0 or above. Requires one AAA battery.

- So i do believe there is no on an off button on that mouse as I read on this site that says: "This one doesn't have an on/of switch, so in order to turn it off you have to disconnect the USB every time and store it underneath the mouse (annoying) . also, if it's idle for a minute (maybe less) the mouse goes in sleep mode and you have to disconnect the USB to wake it back up (super annoying) . The mouse works fine, it just gets old having to take it in and out all the time".

I have installed the software and still can't use the wireless keyboard and mouse (GE wk1204)

Most mice should work without any software, there is a button on the underside of the mouse that needs to be pressed in the right order with pressing the receiver button connected to the computers USB port. Typically Press the base connect button first, then the mouse connect button, then the keyboard button. If it doesnt work reverse the mouse keyboard order. Make sure your using new batteries This is most often the case -dead batteries. (installed in the correct fashion) cheers.
