Canon Printer MP83-

I'm getting Error Code 6A00 and the printer will not operate. I have checked for jammed paper, I have ensured that the scanner button the left side is unlocked, and I have also ensured that the ink cartridges are securely in place. Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi
Good luck
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Erro 6A00

Hi,
The 6A00 is a Canon code for paper path jam. In the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 .
The purge unit is stuck and not able to move freely .Move the purge unit back and forth for around 10 times and then restart printer ,it should work fine .
If you still get the error code then purge unit needs replacement.

Hope this helps .

Canon Mp780 error code 6A00

6A00 is not a jam error, it is an error of the purge assembly not cycling properly. Many times a paper scrap jammed in the capping assembly or the squeegee assembly caught on the filter assembly. Usually worn out gears and dried ink so that replacement of the purge assembly is the best fix.

Code 6A00 -

6A00 means that the purge assembly, thats the cleaning unit where the printhead parks when off on the right, is jammed and cannot move.Look for paper or foreign material stopping it from moving. Sometimes the squeegee unit needs to be pushed back if the pads get stuck under it.

The printer cites error 6A00. I'm told that this

With thanks to a canon tech :-)

Ok Well again I will repeat this answer with a titch more detail.
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement. A Pixma MP830 would still be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the hassel.
Incidently, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model. And its always a paper path error or purge unit.
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.
