Last week I bought a Quasar combination TV and VHS player for a friend on eBay. The set comes on, but none of the controls work, neither the ones on the front of the unit nor the remote.
There is a tape in the VHS, apparently recording, but there is no way to stop it and reject the tape.
It is playing one channel....channel 3.
Absolutely nothing can be done with the remote, even though I have installed two different sets of new batteries.
Somehow, everything is locked up.
anything you can do will be most appreciated.
Sincerely,
Arthur J. O'Brien
Hi,
For the moment, the only easy user action possible is to reset the unit, that is unplug from the mains for a couple of hours. Thereafter, press the eject button while powering it up. If you can eject the tape, pls see if all the buttons/controls function normally. As you suspected, the unit is lock in record mode.
Should problem persist, you may either seek the services of a qualified professional (the unit has to be opened up) or return to point of purchase and demand a replacement.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
Sounds like the vcr lock feature is on,
hold down the rec/time button for 7 secounds during the power on mode.
ushally goes off within 24hrs if the time is set. but seems maybe thats a issue.
try that see what happens.
and if possible give the model number of the unit please.
Quasar is made by panasonic and their guides and manuals can be found there as well..
I found this manual hoping it was close to yours take a look and let me know.
