From all of the documentation that I can find, it appears that it has no built-in microphone, but only a microphone jack in the front of the unit, which is monaural (not stereo).

when it stopped working the first time it is possible the laptop overheated and fried the cpu or motherboard. check the mother board and cpu for any physical marks where overheating has occured .
If the M35-S320 case is OK and the M35-S359 screen is OK and will fit the M35-S320 then I would swap the LCD screen lid and inverter over to the M35-S320 including the hard drive from the M35-S359. It would be less work and with luck it might boot up, if not you might be able to do a system repair, worst case, you will need to reinstall Windows. Plus you have a spare drive from the M35-S320 which you can use as an external hard drive with an USB hard drive adapter case.
