My Kitchen Aid Microwave Model no. KHMS155LBL 0 has a broken rack support hook on one side. There are four hooks which snap into a square hole on each side of the microwave cabinet to allow the installation of rack style shelf mid way up the side of the cabinet. This micro has a glass panel, and that is not the problem. The problem is the UIB part number WPW10391271, it can be replaced by removing the door panel (screws plus snap click). it is Be careful with the 5 colored wires connecting it to the body. You can disconnect them by opening the left panel from undeneath

If the door will not stay closed it is the spring inside door, or the small plastic piece that holds the spring which is attached to the $80.00 piece called outer door.
To fix it, it is EASY and you do not have to even take the inside cover all the way off. Just remove the three sides of cover by gently slipping a plastic putty knife around rim to release the clips. Then attach the spring to the small hole below where the plastic piece used to be, which is located in the metal on the glass frame piece, use tweezers, hold the other end of spring as you place spring onto plastic door latch and set into place!
Snap the inside cover back on and YAY! FINI!

usually the only thing i'm aware of that will do that is if there is some kind of metal object in the microwave when you cook... even plates with thin painted metalic bands on the cause that affect.

remove the hook... place a container filled with water inside the microwave for about a minute to aid in cleaning... and examine the hook for any metal.

Quite often this arcing is due to grease or food particles stuck between the holder and the hole it goes into, etc.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

What usually breaks is the door open lever.

On a counter top model, the outer cover will need to be removed to diagnose and repair this. On an over-the-range model, only the control panel needs to be removed.

Once it is apart, you'll be able to see how the door open button would press against the door open lever, which would then lift up against the door latch heads (hook-like projections on the door) and the door should open.

I assume you're talking about the spring that keeps tension on the door hooks (latch heads, as they're called by Sharp). When you shut the door, the "hooks" are held down by this spring to actuate the door switches. To fix this, you'll have to separate the door panels. You can download the service manual from my Web site. There's a loop built into the latch head assembly and sometimes the loop breaks. If so, you can drill a tiny hold in it and reattach the spring there. There may also be a loop on the innner door panel to hold the spring. That one can break, too. If it's broken, you'll have to find a way to secure the spring to the panel. If the panel material is thick enough, a tiny screw eye could be inserted, then epoxied overnight to secure it.
