Hello, it depends where the unit is leaking from, if it is leaking from the condensing unit then you can just replace the condenser, however if it is leaking from the evaporator coil then you will need to replace the evaporater. As far as brand for replacement I like rheem equipment. The best thing to do is have a hvac technician come out and give you a estimate on a new AC and then you can make a decision.
