Question about Computers & Internet

My mouse is optical, and I've had it for at least 1 year by now. But all of a sudden, it doesn't work at all, like the cursor doesn't show up. I'm not sure whether the usb port has been overused, or if it is the mouse's fault, and I need a new 1. Help me please...

But you see, I was using the ps2 adapter all this time. What I have been doing recently is removing the ps2 port from the mouse itself, and connecting to a usb port without the use of a ps2 adapter. And for like 5 minutes, it was working perfectly, but soon it began to not work again. It is possible that my mouse is dirty or so, or its just time to replace it. Now, like every 10 seconds it goes off, and the only way to make it work again is to repeatedly click the mouse. So, I still don't know what to do...

It sounds to me like your computer isn't detecting it at startup if it's not showing up at all. i would try a diffrent usb port, also thier is a connector peice My mouse is optical, and - ff697e6.jpg in which you can connect it to your ps2 port. click the picture for the link to find this adapter.
Also, it could be your mouse itself. perhaps it had been droped er damaged in some way. you may need a new one.

i've had the same problem with mine as well however mine is a wireless optical. that'll happen when the batteries are going dead. but in this case, i'd suggest it's time for a replacement. I've used micro inovations, wireless mouse and keyboard. the dual combos are a plus.

also the cord for you mouse may have gone bad. i've had my wireless for about 4+ yrs. and it;'s worked fine.

Mikomi 3 Button Mini Optical Mouse AM-9170U Not Working!

On an optical mouse, two thngs happen. The light shines out and a sensor reads the reflection almost like a camera image. Try some other surfaces, particularly ones which are not shiny. If that doesn't help, install the mouse on some other computer. If that works, reinstall your drivers on the first computer, removing the old ones as best you can (Control Panel...Device Manager...etc.). If it doesn't work on the other computer, check for any switches on the mouse (that would be uncommon) and for warranty coverage. Otherwise, the light sensor is probably broken and there is little you can do.

Mouse stopped working, but appears ok, batteries ok, can't determine problem

Hope this helps others. My mouse stopped controlling cursor but buttons worked. Problem was it would not work on a black table. Slip a piece of white paper under it and waaala! It works. I'm thinking optical mouse and dark surface might be an issue.

Cursor sliding off screen

I?ve had this problem in several Logitech mice. In every one of my cases the problem was resolved by uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the latest OR just using the default Windows driver. In some cases with USB mice I had to shut down the PC, remove the original mouse and replace with a standard PS2 mouse, remove and reinstall the driver and then reattach the USB mouse without rebooting. After a successful test you can shutdown the PC and remove the PS2 mouse. Let us know if that works and if you have any other questions and thanks in advance for rating this post.
