I have the same issue with a Sanyo model thought that when I got cable I could remove it with the cable remote can't does not display the menu for CC.?????? What's a know-it-all to do?. I have a UR. Don't know the Model #
The following should solve your problem if you have a comcast digital cable box and possibly for others.
Hey, it's worth a shot!
Turn the TV Power on and cable box power off.
Press the MENU button on the front of the cable box.
Scroll down to the caption item on the menu and toggle it to "disabled"
Press the menu button again to close.
Hope this helps!
