Re: Ps3 shut off, wont turn back on (yellow light)
I'm sure your local computer repair shop may take a look at it. But in my experience, most of the PC techs that I have worked with and worked for have a ton of certifications for networks and PC repair, but do not know how to fix most problems on a game console. It never hurts to try though. It may be a simple fix that I haven't tried yet. I'm still learning some tricks myself. Here at FixYa, they do have a repair shop refferal system. Look for the Repair Service box and enter your zip code. It should give you service centers near you. But every service center will charge you to diagnose the problem, then charge you for parts and labor to repair it. Some will put the money you paid for them to diagnose the problem towards the repair fee, so ask about that. I hope this helps. I wish you much luck.

Normally you don't need to do anything... In some rare cases you may need to send in the registration card of the product... But that is almost never necessary, however sometimes manufacturers will give you a little extra warranty time if you do that. Mainly registration cards are used for marketing purposes to send you sales solicitations on other products.
The most important thing is that you keep the receipt of the item... As it proves the date of purchase, which is the beginning date of the warranty. Without the store receipt there is no proof of purchase and the warranty is not going to be honored. Even if you register the project product using the registration card you still need to keep the store receipt as they may ask for it on your first warranty claim.

If the registration requires the store receipt, always send a copy and keep the original... Never send the original. Ever.
Your best course of action is to contact CONSUMER DIRECT which you can access online or via telephone number 08454 04 05 06 Monday to Friday 0800 to 1830 and Sat 0900 to 1300, it's UK government funded so it shouldn't cost you anything apart from the phone call and nothing online.
I suggest you contact 1-888-Best Buy for assistance. If you have enough information about your purchase, we may be able to locate the transaction without your receipt copy. We should then be able to verify what options are available to you.
Dear Friend the best possible solution is to contact the Sony support team and tell them what your problem is, But consider this first, if you bought the unit on the last 11 months you could send it for Manufacturer's Warranty repair you only need the original sales receipt and contact the 1-800-345-7669, now make sure you keep a record of who you talk to and when you send the unit use a traceable method UPS or FedEx might be your best choice. Keep in mind that having it repaired somewhere else might be as much as half the price of the unit, and when you send back to the manufacturer you might even get a brand new Play Station 3, the only draw back about this procedure is that it will take as much as three months to get it back but you will save a lot of money. Also check your sales receipt and see how long you have on the store return policy...long shot!!
