My wireless network is asking for a password which I have lost. how do i find it?

How to View or Change Your Wireless Network Password Symptoms:

• You have lost or forgotten the password to your wireless network
• You have lost or forgotten the password for the router, access point or other network device
• You left the default password or used a weak password and someone has hijacked your network

Depending on the router, you can either view or reset the wireless network password (also referred to as the passphrase or security key) if you can log into the router. Some routers mask the wireless network password, so while you cannot recover it, you can enter and save a new password.

If you cannot log into your router because you have forgotten the router password or your network has been hijacked, please refer to "Lost or forgotten password for router or other device" below.

To view or reset a wireless network password:

1. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
2. From the left-hand navigation menu of the Router Manager, select Set Up > Wireless Settings.
3. From the center screen, select your encryption type from under the Security Options heading.
   
   • If the wireless network passphrase is visible, review it and use it to log devices onto your network.
   • If it is not visible, you can change your wireless passphrase; however, changing the passphrase will cause you to lose your wireless connection. Connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable before entering a new passphrase into the text box and clicking Apply.

If you cannot log into your router:

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.

NOTE: Restoring factory defaults on a device will erase any customizations you have made. You will lose any configurations saved to the device!

The network security key is essentially a password that was setup to control access to your network. Presumably, when you set it up you gave it a password that you could remember, but not so obvious that people could easily guess. If you've forgotten or lost the password, you can reset the router by using a paperclip and holding the reset button for about 10-15 seconds. HI! to secure the dlink wireless network, u need to access the setup page of the router, pull up a browser and type in at the url:192.168.0.1 and it will ask the username and password, by default the username is admin and password, just leave it blank and it will show the setup page, on the left side select on wireless settings and manual settings, you can select any option here on what type of security u will set. once setting is done u have to save the settings.. once done u have to connect ur wireless computer to the secured wireless network that u create it will ask the password and connect

just try reset in your linksys and reinstall once again the driver for it in both your laptop and set a password for it .....
